There's more.. wrestlingnews.co/aew-news/adam-cole-praises-hbk-and-hhh-and-says-my-twitch-was-super-important-to-me-and-i-know-thats-a-big-no-no-in-wwe/Cole talked about his time in NXT and the relationship he has with Hunter and Shawn Michaels: My relationship with him, and my relationship with Shawn Michaels is so positive, to this day, positive. I formed a bond with Hunter and with Shawn that I would like to think, and they have made it very apparent to me as well, that it’s a relationship that we are always going to keep because I love working with those guys. He knew what my goals were and the things that I wanted to accomplish. I think a big reason I loved NXT so much was, again, we had that freedom and that ability to wrestle super cool, longer matches, and get to show ourselves off artistically in that sense. NXT was kind of built on that mentality. I got in at the perfect time, at least for what I love about pro wrestling. He understood that I wanted to continue doing stuff like that. He knew that my Twitch was super important to me, and I know that’s a big no-no in WWE, which is unfortunate. I was very open and very honest with him to the point where when I was still thinking about what I was going to do even when my contract was up, he knew that. When the decision was made, he knew that, and Shawn knew that. I’ve always been open and honest with them right out of the gate because they’ve always been open and honest with me. I love Hunter. I love Shawn. They have been nothing but incredible to me. They made me better as a performer. I don’t think I would be where I’m at in AEW right now if it wasn’t for those two. I really do mean that, seriously. When I think about the performer I was in Ring of Honor, as much as I learned, and as many great people that I got to work with, getting that four years with them is priceless. It’s absolutely priceless.” The idea of him talking to Shawn about Twitch sounds funny to me. I think its also important to go back and say that while Adam clearly had reservations with resigning with WWE he never buried them and was very complimentary of them. He had interesting views on call ups and on the rebranded of NXT as well... On the rebrand he said he said that NXT was the cool thing and when AEW launched NXT lost a lot of its shine because AEW was in arenas while NXT while having hot crowds was in Full Sail so the difference became noticeable. But he also said he gets that NXT is meant to be the starting point to get you to Raw or Smackdown and a lot of people did 180s when they got called up so it made more sense to align then. And on call ups he said if people were happy even if things weren't going how they thought it would he'd be happy for a wrestler but if they were frustrated he'd feel bad. However he also acknowledged that since NXT wasn't really treated as developmental for awhile a lot of times things got better after awhile because the main roster agents, creative, ect would work on things in the back... so again he things that played a role in the rebrand too

Fightful just reported that one of the pitches was for Cole to cut his hair to establish a new look which he immediately shot down.

Shows what leverage he had in the situation, because a lot of people wouldn't just be able to shoot down this stuff, they'd be out there right the f*** now, Bungus B'Goo with his fancy haircut managing the Bearcat.

He got the ol 2004 or so Frankie Kazarian treatment
Also it's so baffling that NXT was like "OK here we're making recognizable characters to use on the main roster" while Vince is like "no no you need to be a NEW character now" (even to today with him seemingly not getting Keith Lee until he himself can add some personal stamp of character to him). I'm curious to see if he'll do it with 2.0 lol

We've always believed the saying, "No one goes out there with the intention of making a bad show".
But... I dunno...

I'm curious to see if he'll do it with 2.0 lol Cole actually talked about that on his TIJ episode. Basically said NXT guys were not prepared for Raw or Smackdown and just did stuff for NXT. So you saw the rebuilding actually start over on the main roster So while Cole never bashed NXT (loved his time there) he also understood there was an issue

Yeah, even if the product isn't as good with NXT transitioning from Triple H's self-contained Super Indy to Actual Developmental, I still think of it as a necessary evil. There was so much culture shock with most of the NXT callups from that Super Indy era, for both fans and the wrestlers. Now they're at least in NXT with the intention of being called up to Raw and Smackdown and preparing them as such.
The identity crisis between WWE waffling if they wanted NXT to be a true third brand and in-house alternative to Raw and Smackdown or a developmental brand did no one any real favors. Especially when the pandemic stopped the Florida Loop and touring plans in its tracks. Resolving that at least will afford more consistency.
Though I'm so glad that Adam Cole is out of there and now in AEW as Adam Cole instead of the potential horrors they had planned for him as Bungus von B'Goo or whatever

Bald Adam Cole managing Keith Lee sounds like a f***ing dreadful idea.
I can't believe they looked at one of the best wrestlers in the world and thought "Yeah.. Let's do that."

With Twitch being hacked and income leaked, I thought it would be interesting to bump this.
Adam Cole has made over 300k with his Twitch channel. They really wanted him to not stream anymore... LMAO I would have been like “f*** you” too.

I think what always strikes me weird about rebrands to the main roster and why something needed to change is that, well, a good amount of the Raw audiences (not sure about Smackdown since National TV is recorded differently) watches NXT if the numbers are to be believed. So if you call someone up, it’s not like nobody will know who that person is because, well, they watch them weekly the next day. So if you’re going to cut Cole’s hair and call them a different name…a good amount of your audience will know who that is and wonder why they were rebranded. But, well, NXT wasn’t what they wanted and they didn’t make an effort to take advantage of what they did have so here we are.
The fact that it’s now a developmental brand basically takes that excuse away so Bron Breakker can’t have his name and style changed because, basically, they would likely want people to know who he is from his NXT exploits because the show is supposed to be an FCW/OVW that people all over the country can actually watch.

The irony of everything with NXT is it was pitched to be a better developmental to get people to the main roster. And even Adam Cole, who loved his time in NXT, admits that they were not doing that and that a lot of his friends that got called up talked about how the agents and producers complained about how people from NXT had to be taught all over again
