On August 11th, 1991, Nickelodeon premiered the first animated shows created exclusively for the network. They were dubbed the Nicktoons.
Doug.
Rugrats.
The Ren and Stimpy Show.
I remember the same episode of R&S airing every week for a month, because production was so far behind.
I always liked Doug the most of the original three.
Which one of the original three was your favorite?

And then the first 6 episodes of Ren & Stimpy would run for like a full year before the next batch was ready. R&S I say was my favorite of the 3 because of how outrageous it was. But all 3 are GOAT-tier cartoons.

I was always a “Doug” kid. I liked “Rugrats” too but I’ve never been into R&S. Gross out has never been my thing. I know it has more than that, but that’s my lasting memory.
I also feel like Doug was outdone in every way by Hey Arnold.

I was never into any of the three as a kid. I think a bit before my time, when I was very little I was more into Cartoon Network's output and then as I got older the Nicktoons I was more into were things like Fairly Oddparents and Hey Arnold. Though my younger brother was very into Rugrats so maybe they just weren't for me.

Rugrats was the first show that ever hooked me as a kid. My mom would tape the reruns for me and I would watch the VHS over and over again.

But all 3 are GOAT-tier cartoons. Feel free to insert That Simpsons Gag here. I used to feel like you, but grossout humor doesn't really hold up to me. Plus time has seen me use up my sympathy points for John K. and what happened to him here, of course. Doug is probably the one that holds up the best. I was never a Rugrats fan. But 1991-92 was an interesting time to turn into Nick indeed!

Loved all of them although Ren N Stimpy was my least favorite. It was just more adult than the others so a lot of that stuff I wasn't vibing with as much as Doug and Rugrats.

Stu Pickles is probably still a leach on society. Don't have any idea how he and Didi (a school teacher who later became a housewife) afforded a 4 bedroom house with a huge backyard.

I was a little kid during those days and I watched Doug and Rugrats every chance I got. I liked Ren & Stimpy as well, but my mom didn't like me watching it because of the gross-out humor.

But 1991-92 was an interesting time to turn into Nick indeed! About my feelings as well. Ren and Stimpy got the early rub out the gate because... how could it not? I'm not sure there's a show before or since quite like Ren and Stimpy. Less said about John K. the better, but before we found he was a total piece of shit he was a perfectionist who should have turned out product a bit faster. Rugrats is the success story. A long series run, spin-offs, and multiple movies. It's an easy series for kids and parents to love. Doug was the nostaglic favorite. The art was unique and off beat but the stories they were telling were timeless: growing up, first loves, your favorite band, imagining yourself as a superhero. It was great stuff. It was successful, but I think many fans felt the Disney era marked a shift in tone and Nickelodeon no longer owning the property meant after the original run there wasn't really a place for it due to rights.

Back when these started I was 17,only one I watched was R&S. Saw most of Doug years later and it was decent. Never really seen much Rugrats.

Was into R&S. Liked the other two but that was my favorite. Then I found the Simpsons, to watch regularly and that was that.
Don’t think Ren and Stimpy held up well at all.

Doug gang all day. I find the connection Doug had w/ young people at the time kind of fascinating. Just seemed like a real connection due to the content. I loved it but can’t really go back and watch it. Rug tats was fun too. Never ever liked R&S.

It was still better than Adult Party Cartoon, though. There were only two watchable episodes of that mess, the Fire Dogs sequel and the episode about Ren as a Kid which felt like the only one that reached the brilliance of the original series
