So what are some of your favorite spinoff bands if you have any? A band is put together after a bigger band breaksup, or go on hiatus. I will provide some examples when I tell you some of my picks.
Tom Tom Club, I love the song "Genius of Love".
Other spinoff bands Bel Biv Divo, they were okay. I am not sure if I will count this, The Family spun off from The Time. They only had one original member, does that really count.
Another one I am not sure counts, I consider them more of an All Star band than I spinoff, but they were awesome, The Power Station. "Some Like It Hot", I can play that all night.

The Faces New Order Would ELO count? They were kind off a spin-off of Roy Wood’s previous band.

I guess Velvet Revolver. They had a few decent tunes, but I’d still rather they chose Baz to sing than Scott Weiland.

I really really dug Zwan and wished that band didnt implode, Jimmy Chamberlin is one of the best drummers alive and him and Billy Corgan always bring the best out of each other and I was excited to hear more upbeat tracks from Corgan and what Jimmy can do with that style of music, sadly only lasted 1 album and it was done.

Initially the idea was Izzy and Duff share vocals, but Slash and Matt has other ideas and so Duff agreed and Izzy was out once Scott was going to be the choice. Before Scott came along after Izzy bounced when it was clear they were going with lead singer, they were working on stuff with Steve Ludwin who is mostly known as a guy who injects himself with snake venom....

Slash always said it sounded like Skid Roses, feature not a bug, to me anyway.

Will have to think about other answers.

New Order Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (The Birthday Party)
There are probably others, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Prozzak was an offshoot of the Canadian band The Philosopher Kings. The base player and the guitarist got into a fight and to ease tensions between them, they started writing 'comedic' songs together which one sang in an exaggerated British accent. The record label liked the music but it didn't fit with the Kings sound. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW (this is what the Philosopher Kings sound like, just for reference)}

horsemen4ever Really dig The Family album, but I’m soo curious what the original plan of St. Paul taking over Morris’ spot in The Time would have been like.

The Breeders-Pretty much all their first 3 releases are worth getting.
Izzy and the JuJu Hounds-the first album,did they do another?,was really good.

Would ELO count? They were kind off a spin-off of Roy Wood’s previous band. ELO definitely counts, The Move's early seventies stuff is basically embryonic ELO, complete with future ELO tracks.
I'm surprised we've got this far without a mention of Wilco. All of my other favourites who were spinoffs were spinoffs of much smaller bands, so I'm not sure they really count here.

If this was the case Megadeath would count since they where created after Metallica dumped Dave.
