I remember reading this series of books back in my late teens early 20s and thought they were decent. I have since forgotten most of what happend but this trailer looks interesting at least.

Definitely looking forward to this one on the screen. I've just started a read through myself, and at the beginning of Book Two. Funny story, I got introduced to this series by a friend of mine. I was in hospital for a bit, and she picked up one of the books in the series for me while I was in there. I was confused as all get out by the end of the first chapter until I checked the cover, and found it it was Book 12.

I loved the books... up to a point. The ending was rushed and didn't have the right 'feel', to me, after having read the books for over a decade. Also, they're going to have to have to cut soooo much just so to be able to finish the series while any of the actors are remotely young. This is a long, long, long series.

To be fair, if any series ever needed an thorough editing to cut out the deadwood, it was Wheel of Time. Remember when one of the main characters was buried under a wall and then just... vanished for like two books? Good times.
(I assume they'll also be taking an exacto knife to most of Jordan's indulgence in his BDSM/spanking fetish, which is also all for the good.)

Did they kill him off? Such an odd choice for telling a story.

Never read the books, but this trailer feels awfully bland and screams "generic fantasy series produced for streaming". Hopefully it's just a bad trailer.

I got up to Path of Daggers and gave up. Got fed up with no one doing anything.

I got up to Path of Daggers and gave up. Got fed up with no one doing anything. Does that mean you stopped before reading Path of Daggers? If so, you picked a good spot to stop. Path of Daggers is DULLLLLLL! Things start to pick up steam again towards the end of the book after that, although there is one plotline (Perrin rescuing his wife) that goes nowhere for a painfully long time while simultaneously filling a lot of pages. Robert Jordan desperately needed a good editor to clear out the dead space and maybe kick him in the butt once in a while to get him moving. I loved the books... up to a point. The ending was rushed and didn't have the right 'feel', to me, after having read the books for over a decade. And there's the other problem with the series. Robert Jordan passed away after Book 11, and Jordan's wife chose author Brandon Sanderson to finish the series. Sanderson has the exact opposite problem as Jordan. Whereas Jordan would use 300 pages to not advance the plot at all, Sanderson would take a complicated goal that had been studied and debated and planned for over the course of 4 or 5 books, and go, "Yeah, I'll just resolve that whole thing in a few pages." I've read the series. I enjoyed it, or at least a lot of it. But I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone else. Everyone who likes sword and sorcery fantasy should read books 1 and 2. They're great. After that, though, the books get longer and the pace gets slower and you can probably make better use of your time.

The CGI of youth that the new Spiderman flick appears to be using is going to be getting a lot of use everywhere I think.
