Because an argument broke out about it in the show thread so of course we have to talk about it.
Personally I didn't really find it offensive, just kind of trying too hard to shock to the point that it just came off as tacky.
Mostly I hope it is indeed leading to Wardlow splitting from MJF, that feels very overdue.

This caused a kerfuffle? lol
I thought it was fine. Loved the shade he threw at Wahrdawg and how homey was a tad slow on reigning in Pillman’s ass.

I was digging it until those really personal insults came in. That's just not a style of promos I personally like and yeah, to me it felt tacky. He's talented enough to not need to result to lame stuff like that. Anytime people throw out easy stuff like that I'm thinking "damn, maybe I overestimated ya and maybe I need to expect you to do easier stuff to get reactions."
Just not for me.

I loved it.
I loved MJF being so pissed that he lost to Jericho he just didn't care tonight. He attacked Ohio. He attacked Pillman's Family. Pillman Jr. EVEN WARDLOW wasn't safe
MJF just f***ing snapped tonight... it was actually neat to see him just get unhinged a bit.

One of the best in-ring segments they've done in a long time. Great tension and real emotion out there.

Using someone's current or past addiction for heel heat is as old as time and usually ends with the heel getting their ass beat. As long as the family was onboard with it, I don't see the problem.

It was completely despicable in the best ways. Old school heeling at its finest.

I thought it was fantastic. It was supposed to make me hate MJF’s character and I hate him very much and I want him to get his ass kicked. So it worked in a huge way.

It was giving me Dudley Boyz in Dayton vibes, which I say is a plus

If you want my opinion. (which I don't know why you would given my track record, but what the Hell I'll try anyway.) I think the difference between this promo and something like Castor's is there's probably at least a better chance here MJF cleared this with Khan, and Pillman himself before he said it.
Castor couldn't exactly phone up those people he was talking about to get their permission to say those things.

I didn't like some of the lines, but as the Pillmans at ringside were obviously enjoying it (and I would guess, aware of what was going to happen and be said) then I have no problem with it.

It was a good heel promo. Reminded me of mid-90s Jerry Lawler, who I loved.
It hit below the belt to a shocking extent, but without delving into “off limits” territory.
MJF just makes you want to see someone kick his ass.

That was about where I was. It's something where I would actually have enjoyed it a lot less if it were better acted on their part, but watching the people being insulted just smiling ear to ear for it softened the whole thing to watchable.

I can go back at least 25 years just off the top of my head - Jake Roberts/Jerry Lawler, Last Call Scott Hall, Hawk, Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy on multiple occasions across different companies...using real-life addiction for heat is not remotely new.

It was giving me Dudley Boyz in Dayton vibes, which I say is a plus The second he switched gears and started attacking the crowd…I mean literally the nano second he switched…I got visions of Bubba going the f*** off and damn near starting a riot. As for the discourse….if you (the Royal you) didn’t like it, it’s not your “thing?” That cool. To each his/her own. But that said…. The pearl clutching going on as part of that discourse…I couldn’t help but think “is this the first time y’all ever heard Maxwell speak?” I mean that is a text book MJF promo through and through. THAT is the only part of said discourse that made me facepalm as I read it.

It was low-brow garbage. I get that AEW presents a variety of facets of what has traditionally been "professional wrestling" for the past 35 years, but this simply wasn't my cup of tea, and part of why I don't follow AEW more closely. It's funny how AEW purports itself to be more "sports oriented" and people arrive to angrily declare themselves "pro WRESTLERS!!1" then they do stuff like this. At a certain point it transcends exhibiting different styles of entertainment, and truly having to choose a coherent direction.

MJF would have cleared this with the Pillmans and Tony. This was MJF making himself the biggest villain in the business by teeing off at everyone in sight.

Let me know if there was an angle centering around the Crusher being an alcoholic before we start throwing around phrases like, "as old as time." And let's also consider how many guys in the late '90s who were screwed up on pills or other vices, that were never talked about at all.
