You live in one of the biggest wrestling markets on the planet. If AEW sucked well your going to get plenty of amazing wrestling shows. I mean yesterdays show is only an hour away from Arthur Ashe and tickets are as low as $54 on stubhub? Go to that?
Even growing up in Detroit we would get a major ppv every other year or so, got a lot of good Raws back in the day. AEW hasnt even been there yet. We got a couple ROH shows a year, just had GCW, but the indy scene never really took off there.
But compare that to New York/New Jersey, Chicago, Vegas, Philly, Atlanta, Boston, LA, or some parts of Florida that's nothing. Now I live in Nashville and theres even less, there hasn't been a WWE ppv here in like eight years, we had one of the first AEW shows, and ROH show before covid, but I'm lucky I can go an Impact taping this weekend.
Youre making it sound like you live in Wyoming and pro wrestling will never be there again. Maybe Tony should have thrown you a bone knowing the original blood and guts was cancelled there, but I thought you got a pretty good show.

This is a strange reaction to me because AEW always announces at least the main matches a week ahead of time. You knew what was coming because they told you ahead of time. If the show didnāt sound appealing, thatās fine. But showing up and expecting cool unannounced things is on you. You know what you were going to get when the main matches were announced.

But if the card didnāt appeal to me, going to the show would be a huge waste of time. Someone else would have loved to have that ticket.

Ok, I'll make something clear; I've moved posts where people talk to others in, to put it lightly, a disrespectful way. I'm not going to go further because I get why they reacted that way but we absolutely don't talk to people in that manner.

Huh? That show was fire. Great wrestling, great promos, tons of storyline progression.

Im guessing OP already knows it is a first world problem and that he could have sold the ticket and he just wants to rant and let steam off. Sometimes life bums you out. Im sure many of us would have loves to be in that position even if we had lost the chance to watch blood and guts but hey you lose something you are looking forward too ,its not AEW fault but it aint fair.

All we have are Impact tapings once a month, and Southern Underground coming back. If I wanted to see a really good indie show aside from that, I either have to drive to Knoxville for NGW, which would be a three hour drive, or go to Alabama which would be about an hour and a half to hit up New South. I drove nine hours for All Out weekend because we are that starved down here. The NY/NJ just had (apparently, I didn't watch) an awesome SmackDown at MSG, a killer Dynamite last night, Arthur Ashe next week, and Rochester the week after. Also, weren't they offering refunds a while back? You should have known you weren't getting a Blood and Guts match when they ran it in Daily's Place. Nashville was scheduled to have Hell in a Cell a couple years ago. I didn't show up to the next show WWE ran there upset because I didn't get a cage match(though I got a really shitty Jason Jordan/Kurt Angle father son angle).

Yeah and impact is moving to Vegas after this set of tapings. I was at the last two NGW shows probably some of the best live wrestling Iāve ever seen. I got to make to Southern Underground and New South eventually. I actually mentioned the Jordan/Angle raw on the last page. That show turned me off from see non ppv WWE live, I did go to āSmackvilleā which turned into a network special after I already got tickets. They announced a raw for October but I wonāt go that, so itās a mostly a vacuum, I can drive 3 1/2 hours for the January 1st ppv in Atlanta, or drive three hours to Louisville to see ovw, they just announced an NWA show for fans in ācentral Tennesseeā itās in southwest kentucky and itās still 2 hours away. The closest wrestling to my house is some Indie show thatās an hour away where I can see both Suicide and Kaleb with a K what are the odds of that?

I sympathize with you OP. I'm sorry they put a mediocre card for you. Hopefully they better show on for you if/when you go see them next time

Did they hold you at gun point? I could have been a bad friend and abandon them You can just tell them before that you're not feeling up to going, and maybe they can rope someone else in your spot. You don't have to up and abandon them without warning.

Got nothing. Nothing even remotely trying to make up for the 18 months waiting and the loss of a two ring cage match. Might as well burnt my ticket cause f*** me I wanted to go to this show and not the NYC show next week I am so glad to finally hear someone else call this show out for being a huge letdown - especially after an 18-month delay and the loss of Blood and Guts. Yes, I know it's unrealistic to expect them to deliver a double-cage match specifically, but they should have felt a pressure to deliver something on par or better. Instead Dynamite was main-evented by the former Ever-Rise and Rampage by a 3-40+ jobber outweighed by over a hundred pounds. They didn't even do a cool "destroy the car" spot despite setting up for it. And for those of you who say that at least we got Punk, Danielson, and Cole: it's not like Punk's commentary could be heard in the arena, nobody tunes in to see Danielson just do a promo, and Cole's opponent was an afterthought. Actually, if any of the Chicago surprises delivered last night, it was Ruby Soho in her face-to-face with Britt Baker. A few years ago, nearby promotion JAPW decided to call one of their shows Calm Before the Storm. This was a terrible title, because it basically tells the fans that this show won't be as awesome as a storm, but the next one (the Anniversary Show) will be. AEW treated the Newark shows like a calm before the storm - building to something bigger, but not memorable in and of itself

Why did I bother going to watch live wrestling that by almost every other account was a wild show?!

Top demo too. So I don't know what you're talking about.

Kind of surprised AEW doesnāt do big dark match main events like WWE does a lot of times. Like the MSG Smackdown had a preshow Charlotte vs. Rhea dark match and a post-show Cena and the Mysterios vs. Roman and the Usos match.
Similarly, I remember the first Raw I went to at MSG in 1997 had a dark main event of Bret Hart, the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in a triple threat match (and that Raw was already a stacked show with the Cactus Jack-Triple H street fight and Austin stunning Vince for the first time).
