The heart punch. I like the idea of it, but in practice it just looks ridiculous.

I know it makes kayfabe sense, but any finish that is just a punch. The WMD, the heart punch, I don't care if it would kill me really, I am watching theatrical fake fighting. Give me a Canadian Destroyer any day. I only really accept it if the person doing it has a significant weight advantage or a boxing background, but even then it still begs the question of why they don't just do it straight off the bat. Or for that matter, why are they even wrestling and not boxing.

Or for that matter, why are they even wrestling and not boxing. People with a boxing background can do entire movesets around their punches and shit, and I do appreciate that. It's also extremely easy to explain in kayfabe that wrestling training is not the same as boxing training so despite having good punches they aren't as good as when training for boxing or some shit. It's really not difficult.

I always hated the Cross Rhodes and Sister Abigail.
It's such a nitpick, but those moves are too "spinny" in my mind and not devastating looking enough.

Sorry Beautiful Bobby, but the Alabama Jam. Jump off the top turnbuckle, land square on your ass. By wrestling logic, if the guy taking the move gets out of the way, it would hurt Bobby, even though the impact would be exactly the same as if he landed it. If he hits it though he's coming down from a great height with a legdrop with about 230-240 pounds behind it across your neck and throat. So yeah it's jarring him a bit even if hits it but he's doing a hell of lot more damage to the opponent if it connects. With that said though I actually liked Bobby's kneedrop off the top better and thought it should've been his finisher. Looked cooler and more devastating. I also found it super impressive from a reality standpoint how he never hurt anybody doing that and also that he was so good that people were willing to trust him to do it without hurting them.

Not to mention the idiot taking it has to awkwardly hold onto the ropes and look terrible for even putting themselves in that position when any other time they just hang there. Low Ki used to do it really well, he would stomp on your ankles and do something to make you rise up so he can strike ADR did it to Kofi one time and it took like 30 seconds and Kofi was just waiting there holding the ropes. ADR should have just used the Enziguri as a finisher it could have worked Yeah, Low-Ki would not only stomp on the knee, but also grind his foot into the knee, which would cause his opponent to reach for his knee... allowing for the Ghetto Stomp.

the Border Toss just for "jfc you're going to kill someone with that" potential. I knew Ethan Page was great the moment I saw him do it and he didn't just kill his opponents on it. Almost like he's, like, way better than Hernandez or something. Christy Hemme's "Flying Firecrotch Guillotine" by virtue of being called that.

I'm going to defend the Samoan Spike. It's jamming a thumb with a lot of force right into someone's throat. Yeah, it's not flashy or impressive looking, but it should be damn effective at taking someone out. Jeff Jarrett's Stroke finisher always looked really corny to me. Like, it always looked like he was taking the brunt of the move. Yeah, the Spike was fine since he had a taped thumb, anyway, to keep it rigid. Of course it'd hurt. I like the Stroke well enough in terms of concept, but I feel like it makes more sense with a full nelson, rather than half, since it looks too easy to block it with the other hand.

I consider myself an old school kinda guy when it comes to moves, but lately I've kinda come around on the new indie style of shit and the Young Bucks style matches and what not..
But the Canadian Destroyer and The Spanish Fly (if that's what that's called, the flipping Rock Bottom thing) should've been tossed out with the bath water at first sight and never let be allowed on TV ever.
There's things that happen in wrestling that will always get looked at sideways, but there's no f***ing way you will ever convince me those moves make sense not on physically, but in kayfabe either. They aren't cool, it doesn't look good and it's damn near insulting to the fans.
Hot take but I stand by it.

As a guy who got into wrestling during the attitude era I was super underwhelmed when I saw his finisher was a f***ing legdrop. Even worse, doing that move basically crippled him.

Hogan's leg drop.
Kevin Sullivan's gut stomp (mid-90s WCW). Especially the times when he didn't even bother to jump off the turnbuckle.

I seem to recall Big Cass using a regular-ass elbow drop as a finisher
