Today managed to consume another animal part that's not that common to eat.
Had papaitan. It's a Filipino soup made from a number of innards, stuff like heart, tripe and liver, and the main part is that part of the soup broth is made from bile. Makes the broth quite bitter, and that's why the dish is named so, as pait means bitter in English. That said, it's not just bitter all the way; stuff like garlic and onions for flavor, two types of chilies for a spicy kick, and before eating some drops of calamansi for some citrus. Quite appetizing, and the rice helps bring down the bitterness.
All the parts used were beef, though goat can also be used for the dish.
Anyone else tried eating something different lately?

Put some tater tots on the bottom of the slow cooker. Add a pack of frozen veggies, then ground beef mixed with cream of mushroom soup over that, then as much cheese as you have on hand on top of that.
About three hours on low heat later you've got a pretty decent facsimile of Shepard's Pie.
Not that exotic but it was something new I enjoyed.

Order some boxes of exotic banana varieties online a couple weeks back. If you ever get the chance, Nam Wah Bananas are delicious.

My dad and I like buying from local farmers/ranchers when we can. Recently, we started getting our chicken eggs from a coworker of his. Last week, she offered us a dozen duck eggs to try out. In addition to using them in our usual scrambles, I tried my hand at hard-boiling a couple. Came out great, super easy to peel, and might delicious! Probably not too interesting for others, but it was a first time for us.

Due to a mixup, I got a free Junior McChicken, which is something I never had before. Not my cup of tea.

For a good long while, didn't like it, as usually when it's salted duck eggs family usually prepares as a side dish by mixing raw tomatoes and onions with it. Don't like the consistency. Tried it as is, and it's a great side dish on its own. The texture of the yolk is great. Salted egg flavor is also excellent in fish skin chicharon. And of course there's balut, which is usually made from duck eggs, but that's hardly new for me. In any case, even if it's chicken, would like to try making salted eggs. All I'll need is just the eggs, a jar, and some brine. I mean, there's a method that'll use mud instead of brine, but I think I'll stick to the brine.

I like to try new foods based on different ethnicities, though my absolute abhorrence of onions and inability to tolerate spicy foods limits my options when I do. Having said that, I’m over the American version of Mexican food. Actual authentic Mexican food might be better, but I’m sick of what passes for Mexican locally.

My brother is vegan so yesterday when he was over we had “plant based” churros. They were alright.
I have to admit to not being an especially adventurous eater, I know what I like.

I made myself a salad for lunch. This follows on from greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast.
