I find it odd that no Nation of Domination combination ever held the belts. Especially considering how weak the tag team scene was around that period. You know what, Mark Henry and D'lo Brown are now in contention for this, because that's bonkers. Rocky and Faaraoq were natural's for this storyline in 1997-98. The win the titles, Rock gets cocky. Has enough and turns on Faaraoq abandoning the tag titles like Diesel and Shawn in 1994. Rocky and Faaraqo versus Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman at No Way Out for the titles. Next night Shamrock and Blackman drop them to the Outlaws and we still get Outlaws vs. Foley and Funk at Mania 14.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread The Rockers are the first team that came to mind since they were never officially recognized as champions. They were always really over and could have a good match with anybody. I think they were a victim of timing because they were around in a time when the WWE had the Hart Foundation, Demolition and then LOD in the fold during their run.

I think the problem here is that you end up with the Outlaws not having the titles during their formative months. I think it was vital for them to have the belts to dangle in front of LOD and Cactus & Funk, and it gave them a bit of legitimacy when they were loose allies with the Hunter and Shawn D-X. Rocky had the IC title which was all he needed to advance the angle with his coup of the Nation.

As much as I love the Brain Busters, I kind of think the Twin Towers should have taken the belts from Demolition in 89. The Twin Towers would run into the problem of never needing the tag straps, also they were embroiled in a feud with the Mega Powers. That would have put 2 of the company's 3 titles in one feud, and after the feud with Hogan was done, they began the process of turning Boss Man face. Would have been great for them to win the tag titles, but I can understand why they never won them. The feud with the Mega Powers had really ended by early 89. I'm talking post Mania 5. Boss Man didn't turn face until early 90. I think there was time for a feud with Demolition and they in fact faced Demolition at Summerslam. It was just a six man tag and not a tag title match. Of course if the Twin Towers win the tag titles for a short stint, then the Brain Busters probably never get the opportunity. With so many great tag teams back then, it's a tough call. But I think the Twin Towers could have won the belts and perhaps added something to the split of Boss Man and Akeem.

Yeah, no way in hell was the company ever gonna turn Hogan heel at that point. Dude was such a bigger draw than anybody else, that turning him heel and getting rid of that cash cow would have been a top 5 stupidest move in wrestling history. Oh ok let it was never going to happen. But it’s fun to think about though

Men On a Mission.
Super over in the early 90's and technically were champs but only for 1 day.

Going old school, The Killer Bees had some incredible matches in the WWF. The tag division was arguably the best it ever was then. But they never got the straps.
In fact The Killer Bees were ALMOST never tag team champs at all. The only place they ever won tag belts was at the last show of Herb Abrams’ UWF. They didn’t win a tournament or anything to get them and never defended them.
