That is beyond screwed up. My sincerest condolences to the Hutchins family, my best wishes to Souza and Baldwin and their loved ones.

Can't they create props where its essentially a cap gun? Effects can be added later these days. Still, terrible stuff and I'm sure Alex is going through hell now. They use real guns to replicate recoil and such. You can't really do that with a cap gun. There shouldve been someone supervising this scene though. Now someone lies dead with many traumatized Couldn't they rig the device or prop to jump or move in such a way? I suppose maybe its easier just using a real gun than trying to build something but if I was a producer I wouldn't have real guns used. After what with Brandon lee.

What a horrible situation for all involved. A freak accident causing loss of life and an injury, and someone having to live with this for the rest of their life. Just awful.

For the most part, this stuff is usually checked thoroughly and is very safe to use on set. This and Brandon Lee's death are the only two incidents I can think of where something this terrible happened. Either this was a one-in-a-million freak accident or someone really f***ed up. Worst case for them is they could be held responsible for a criminally negligent homicide.

The actor who shot that gun had nightmares about it for the rest of his life, and I can see the same happening to Alec.

Probably the nastiest of the social media. Although having said that, I haven't caught anything negative about this there, although maybe I haven't develed in far enough.

A fake gun should have been used. CGI can add firing effects later.
And aiming a stunt gun at a real person is just insanity.

No surprise really.

As soon as this news broke, all I could think of was the same tragedy happening with Brandon Lee. Horrible. Just horrible. I was the exact same when I saw the news this morning and Brandon lee was who I thought of because of the similarities to it. Obviously, the woman who has died is the most important person here and her family but how the hell can you get over(if that’s possible) seeing the incident live. I can’t imagine how Alec Baldwin is feeling.

I thought so.
But why get an innocent person's death in on it?
It happens a lot with wrestling unfortunately...a recent example would be people being happy Jeff Hardy got Covid because of the Karrion Kross thing. I bet people were making light of Triple H's heart attack because of the Reign of Terror (which was near 15 years ago, people!).
And a lot of people are going to be sympathetic to Baldwin and know this was an accident, so if people think this is a form of karma for (banned from FAN) and that people will realize he was a "bad" person because of this...they're going to be disappointed. Or complain that "he got off easy" because of his leanings.
Look if he gets put under the microscope, it's because of this incident not his politics.
Some days I want out of here, as there's no topic that couldn't be turned political or Us vs. Them these days no matter how irrelevant to political leanings they are. I should have known nothing was over yet when something happened the beginning of this year.

I should have known nothing was over yet when something happened the beginning of this year. There's a lot of bad faith arguments being made right now. "He should have checked the gun wasn't loaded before he fired." No, the gun would've been checked and re-checked by the weapons master and prop master before it found its way into any actor's hand, so assuming protocol was followed they are the ones who are going to be in hot water. "He's the producer, so if the people he hired screwed up then he's just as liable." Not really. His production company is making the movie and will ultimately be subject to a wrongful death lawsuit, but it's not his job to personally ensure the production staff are doing their jobs correctly. "He's going to avoid punishment because he's a star." It wouldn't matter if it was Alec Baldwin or some no-name actor on his first gig, come on now.

This is not directed towards you personally, but this is not about that, this is a tragic accident where someone is DEAD. People need to stop thinking with their egos and open up their hearts. Biggest muscle in the body and tragically few use it.

I can’t imagine being so adherent to an ideology, that you can’t just stop and be a human being for a few minutes. This is a tragedy. Not some opportunity to prosecute some vendetta against your supposed enemy. Everyone fret thoughts should be with that poor woman and her loved ones. She’s just doing her job; and by some freak occurrence, she’s not here anymore. Just a terribly sad situation for all involved.
