Developing story on the set of Rust. Actor Alec Baldwin is involved, the DP is dead, the director is in critical. apple.news/AYdaz87FXRsSJuXZkstVPpwHaving horrible Crow flashbacks right now.

Especially with like cgi nowadays

Really awful situation. This happening on the set of a movie about an accidental murder is weird as hell.

Should not be happening on such a major set. That is horrendous. Hope the director ends up fine.

Didn’t realise at first it was Alec Baldwin who actually fired the gun. Jesus, what a mess.

And just to confirm that social media is a cesspit that brings out the worst in people, the sheer number of people who've decided to @ Baldwin's Twitter account to call him a murderer is sickening.
Just a terrible situation all over.

Just a terrible situation all over. Yeah, that whole thing is gross. He's a victim in his own right here, I'm sure this is going to be something that hangs over his head for a long time, so the rush of people calling for his head over it is just f***ing gross.

Still makes no sense to me how this can still happen. Especially with like cgi nowadays Dozen and one reasons - chiefly it's much, much cheaper to use real guns, and it's very hard for actors to realistically react to phantom shots and fake recoil - it's very safe, far safer than the vast majority of shit done in live-action filmmaking. This is the first time, I think, this has happened in a Hollywood production since The Crow almost 30 years ago, and for this to happen someone or someones along the line had to be criminally negligent. There's no way that a loaded gun should have been in Baldwin's hand unless he had very specific instructions on where and when to shoot. I will not theorize which was the weak link in the safety chain, but it's a shame anyway. Someone should be going to jail.

Just a terrible situation all over. It's so damn dumb. They act like he wanted to kill someone when it was an accident. Ugh. I can't even imagine how he's feeling right now let alone the families of those involved. Nobody wanted this and it wasn't intentional I'm sure.

If it's anything like what happened with The Crow, someone in the prop department really f***ed up.
Just a tragedy all around. A person died for no real reason and Alec Baldwin is likely going to be traumatized for the rest of his life about this.

This is sad.
The deceased sounded like a real up and comer in the cinematography area of films.
I read a synopsis for the film, and it sounds like western involving children actors.. I hope they were not apart of that shoot, or on set when it happened.
Sad all round.

I’m praying for a freak accident - the gun somehow exploded or something. It would mean it’s a miracle Baldwin isn’t hurt, but only way I can think of it not making things worse and fingers getting pointed.

I’m reminded of the film “Hanna” .. nothing happened on that set.. but I remember the opening and closing scenes of that film.. it involved the main character firing a firearm directly into the camera.
Wonder if it was one of those type of scenes.

Wonder if it was one of those type of scenes. My first thought was of the death of Jon-Erik Hexum, that actor who was just messing around with a prop gun while between scenes on the set of the TV series "Cover Up"...

Michael Massee was unable to work for a couple of years and had nightmares about the accident that killed Brandon Lee for the rest of his life.

Can't they create props where its essentially a cap gun? Effects can be added later these days.
Still, terrible stuff and I'm sure Alex is going through hell now.

They use real guns to replicate recoil and such. You can't really do that with a cap gun. There shouldve been someone supervising this scene though. Now someone lies dead with many traumatized
