m.youtube.com/watch?v=bcLfDM_Frq4&t=323sThe announcer (Johnny Olsen) announces him by his real name. He tells Bob he’s a wrestler. Was Ox a heel at this time? If he was, this could be considered ksyfabe breaking (although you can say he turned face and quickly turned back to a heel.) Yes, I know he had to be himself on this show because if he acted like a heel, than there would be trouble. Enjoy.

Here is where I mention that Brian Kendrick was also on TPIR. Obviously the Drew Carey era.
Larry Legend, who does ring announcing in indies in NJ, was on the show too.
And Nick Bockwinkel kicked ass one episode of Hollywood Squares.

He punched the wheel to stop it at a dollar and the audience went crazy, yelling for him to punch the wheel again to restart it.

I used to live near the city he was billed from, though I have no idea if he had any legitimate ties to Waterloo, Iowa, or if it was due to his initially being a rural yokel gimmick.
EDIT: Ah, apparently he DID go to highschool there.

Never mind that they could skip the episodes with furs. Were there just THAT many of them? Otherwise, since TPIR had no returning champions or straddling games (shows where a game ends in the middle of one episode, then picks up next episode), I don't see the problem. And it ain't like Fremantle is shy about skipping "problematic" episodes, look over on Buzzr.

I posed this question with that thought in mind, a while back on Matt Ottinger’s Game Show Forum (a site I know you’re familiar with, James). The response I got was that close to half the pre-82 episodes had furs. Which, ok, but there are what, 180-ish eps per season, give or take? That would still be a good haul of playable episodes. That said, I remember when the channel first launched, they said they’d be starting with ‘82 & later episodes—which led me to think they were keeping their options open to run the earlier stuff down the road. Maybe they’re holding off the fur seasons—or even the fur eps themselves—until Barker passes on? (I don’t mean to be macabre, but if you follow the behind-the-scenes side of game shows, you know why that would seem to be a distinct possibility.)
