one of my friends and I were having an arguement over which comic book charcter was cooler at killing people.
I said the spectre because he killed people with THE WRATH OF GOD!
he said the punisher, and told me I didn't know what I was talking about till I read punisher MAX.
now to me the punisher never appealed to me because he always seemed like a nick fury rip off, but then again I liked strange tales.
so who do you think killed people the best in comics?

Lobo is usually pretty extreme and/or creative in his killing sprees.
The Mask, especially under Arcudi and Mahnke, could do anything, which made for some creative slaughter.
Kenshiro from "Fist Of The North Star" would hit people's pressure point which literally made their bodies explode, while his sometimes friend, Rei, mastered a special martial art that allowed him to slash people to pieces with his bare hands.
"Reiko - The Zombie Shop" has no shortage of gore and carnage as the various characters mutilate each other. Saki Yurikawa in particular, slices up little girls (and everyone who gets in her way) in very horrific ways.

Two best single issues for kill scenes were Infinity Gauntlet #4 and From Hell #10

Personal fav is when in Kravens last hunt, when he became spider man and buried him and spidey came back to beat the shit out of him, kraven let him and then release Vermin in to the city, he was left by himself and since he "killed" spiderman he felt his greatest feat was done. so in turn Kraven commited suicide, pretty powerful stuff, the best line from the story was"they say my mother was insane"

Anyways, The Watchmen, from DC, has some awesome death scenes in that comic, as well.

The PUNISHER MAX series, with Garth Ennis at the helm, has had some of the best, most creative "kills" of any comic out there. Just pick up the latest TPB from that line, the BARRACUDA series, to see my point illustrated.
In it, the Punisher literally feeds a gangbanger to a Great White shark. And then proceeds to do the same to a yacht full of corrupt white collar types. Great kills throughout this story.

the way Rorschach goes ou in The Watchmen was pretty intense I'd say.
and ditto on Black Adam's eye gouge from hell on Psycho Pirate in Infinite Crisis. come to think of it, Infinite Crisis had a lot of pretty brutal stuff in it (Deathstroke owning the Freedom Fighters was pretty brutal too, as was Superboy Prime versus pretty much anyone).
one that always will stick out in my mind, though, is Brainiac blowing Psimon's brain out of his head in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, especially considering that comics were a lot more kid-friendly at the time.
and for all out funnyness, nothing tops Deadshot shooting the Fiddler point blank in the face for failing in Villains United

My favorite Ennis Punisher kill wasn't all that gory, as it took place in the "Welcome Back, Frank" miniseries. When he's dispatching the gangsters in the Central Park Zoo, the final gangster is given the BEST last line in comics history... "It's bears." Then a polar bear rips his head off.

Dark Horse's Zombie World had some great kills.
Though my favorite has to be when the guy who's keeping his Zombie-fied "girlfriend" chained in the basement, and brings her a set of Siamese Twins to "consumate" the relationship. Twisted stuff, but great.

Zombie Red Skull ripping out Zombie Col. America's brain in Marvel Zombies is pretty awesome. As is Zombie Hulk biting the Silver Surfer's head off.

Ennis, I think still owns the record for most controversial, with his depiction of the end of the Allfather in PREACHER.
Getting pushed out of a plane, and falling on the last descendant of Jesus is so far over the edge it's not even funny.......and then you sit there for a second, and look at the scene again, and it's uproarious.

Marvel Zombies rocks but I'm going Punisher.
It wasn't a kill, per say, but the man blew Wolverine's balls off with a shotgun, then drove a steamroller over top of him. HOW DO YOU TOP THAT?

It'd be mighty hard, but I'm sure Ennis could come up with something. ;D The man has an almost PATHOLOGICAL hatred of Superheros, it seems. He put Spidey through the ringer with the Russian, had Daredevil play Russian Roulette, fed the Hulk some C4 laced constipants, and then the stuff with Wolverine. Yeah......ol Frank is in good hands with Garth Ennis.

Basically Frank took out all the high profile superheroes for all the accidental deaths/collateral damage they cause. Hulk was rampaging about and Punisher hit and planted a tracking device on him....waited for him to turn back into Banner and snuck up on him and blew his brains out while he was sleeping it off.

And oddly enough, there are many who suspect that Marvel retconned Banner's vulnerability because of this very kill. In the BANNER miniseries, Bruce Banner tries to shoot himself, and ends up only causing himself to turn into the Hulk. A direct result of Frank snuffing a sleeping Banner? Or simply Marvel realizing how ridiculously vulnerable Banner is in his sleep? You make the call!
