He should have won in the fatal four way.

I’m perfectly fine with them pumping the breaks as dude looked awesome in defeat. I’d maybe have him win the North American title first before the main title. Here’s my concern. Can we just call him Bron Steiner already? Last night they did everything but say the name Steiner and that bugged me to no end.

Yes, because I'd rather WWE stop acting like they aren't killing the Triple H/Takeover Era.
They know it, we know it. Rip the band aid off and move on.

I don't think so. Having him work his way back up and win it when he's more ready will be better for him in the long run.

I like that he has a hardship now, something to grow from rather than "he's the f***ing Guy now in NXT, deal with it marks" That's very true. If Bron won last night, the crowd might've started turning on him. Putting him over Ciampa (who's still beloved by the audience) in his first title match would've been like another big "f*** you" to the black and gold diehards. I was 100% sure he was going to “Cena Up” after kicking out of the Concrete DDT and Fairy Tale Ending. I was sure the crowd would have booed his moment had that happened. I’m so glad Ciampa just death kneed him to finish right after. Just a great ending to the match. And again, the right one IMO.

I think also if you’re going to have Bron be in the position he is, you might as well give him a longer arc towards getting the title. Have him interact with other people whilst Ciampa faces someone else for a bit and have Bron earn his way back to a shot.
Considering he’ll be there for at least a year before the inevitable drafting, you might as well try to add more aspects he can use when he does debut.

There’s still juice in this Ciampa run if booked properly so I’m cool with it and I’m cool with Breakkkkker eventually beating Ciampa for it down the line.

Ciampa doesn't fit this new brightly colored NXT.
Bron should've won the title.

Ciampa doesn't fit this new brightly colored NXT. Bron should've won the title. Maybe but he’s sort of the guy you need on top right now to keep the ship steady for the transition period they’re still in. The moment Bron as champion has his first match without the support of the older guard, he’d be eaten alive. It’d be much better to get him more seasoned and then he’ll be ready to be NXT champion and, more importantly, to be called up to the main roster.

I think there's plenty of time to build more to him than he has right now. Ciampa can carry the belt until the rumble or Mania and make it a bigger deal when Bron wins.

I could see him feeling Dunne's earned a title reign, but if it's still Prichard and Laurinaitis' show then I can't see them having Ciampa drop it to one of the old guard like Dunne. I'm honestly surprised they put it on Ciampa in the first place.

Really, only 4 matches?? Dude is Angle levels of just getting it. Bit of a mark for Ciampa (prefer psycho heel though) so happy he retained personally.
Although haha at them getting Chucky to say about Bron that losing runs in the family. Don't think uncle Scott will be making an appearance anytime soon.

I'm honestly surprised they put it on Ciampa in the first place. I was too at the time but the more weeks past, I get it. For all the talk of new era and new talent, you still need a steady hand who can guide them and a recognizable name to keep viewers watching because until it isn’t on USA, it’s a TV show and you need to get the audience to watch the show, regardless if it’s developmental or not. And as someone pointed out, Bron is 4 matches into his career. For as much as he gets it more than others, he’s likely only gotten so much. And if you give his character all the wins, there isn’t many places to go until he’s called up (and he’s getting called up in the draft next year, no doubt) so you might as well give him some struggles and depth, have him work with other people and then show what he can do in a main event where he’s leading against your (hopefully) more established heel foils.

For what it's worth, he's apparently going to be going on the next UK tour loop, working a bunch of triple threats with Ciampa and, of all people, Sami Zayn. That's a strong learning tree. Yeah, that sounds like the right approach. Like even Angle learned from the ‘00s Midcard of the WWF before being able to take a glance towards any main eventers, even if it was quicker than most did.
