For the life of me, in my travels around the internet, I can't get a read on whether people are happy or mad about Tommaso Ciampa retaining the NXT belt over Bron Breakker last night. On one hand, some seem to be happy that they just haven't given the dude the mother of all rocket pushes to a title before he's able to count the number of total matches he's had on more than one hand (from my understanding, the four matches he's had on NXT TV so far are the only matches he's EVER had). On the other hand, other people seem to be upset that he lost, they're already saying that he's being wasted and that he should've won to kind of seal the transition from old NXT to new.
Fair play to Breakker, he's holding up his end of the bargain and doing way better than someone with only four matches ever should be doing, I wouldn't have been upset with him winning. But at the same time, I'm like "This goes against so many of the criticisms I usually make against WWE if I want this guy pushed to the belt NOW", especially the whole thing that he should be pushed BECAUSE he's a Steiner, like nepotism is OK if it's not from one of the usual families (Fatu/Anoa'i, Flair, Hart or Snuka).
I don't know, what say you? Good match, too, for what it's worth.

I would have strapped him up. Some might argue it's too soon, but this is just a developmental title it isn't like he's being asked to carry the entire company on his big, broad shoulders. It should be seen as a proving ground as how you handle being champion. Plus, Bron is real good and just draws you in, and Ciampa has already had his reign. That being said, I don't mind how he lost. Ciampa had to use concrete, his finisher, then relentless knee shots followed by another finisher to finally put down Breaker. I imagine he's getting another shot soon.

It doesn't matter either way. He'll likely have a great run in NXT but they'll probably cut his legs off on the main roster. No way he doesn't get hot-shotted to the main roster because of who he is but, when he does, they'll make him into "just another guy" unless they want to make him the next star immediately. Which would be dumb but predicable because I can't see them waiting long enough to let him grow organically.

Nope, too early still IMO. He answered a lot of questions last night though and absolutely will get his moment in the not too distant future.

I think he should have but they do still have time to capitalize on his buzz and strap him up in the very near future. It’s developmental now, Breaker seems like the guy, so have Ciampa put him over big.

He's truly a draw for me. Like, I watch NXT when I would not otherwise because I want to see him wrestle. I don't think he should have won last night, but I think he should win very soon. Just, hopefully with a new name. Because Bron Breakker seriously is not growing on me, personally.

Could have gone either way to be honest. To solidify the new era of NXT and make him the vocal point makes sense (because, regardless of what we say about it being developmental, you’re still booking a TV show and USA is paying for a TV show) and it at least comes off like you’re having a younger talent be that vocal point.
On the flip side, you don’t want to risk rushing someone up, getting negative reactions and having a MSK/Roman/Cena on your hands where you lose the audience. And from a story perspective, if Bron won, what would be next? He comes in and wins the belt and you’re basically scrambling to get someone on his level or just make stories based on his inexperience. Losing now might be the best thing to happen because his story is now “I’m going to prove myself to you and beat you when the time is right”.
EDIT: Also, if you’re not going to call him Bron Steiner or Rex Steiner, stop making him act and dress like Rick and Scott. It’s ridiculous at this point. Chucky, his dad’s old rival, even called him a “Puppy-faced gremlin”. Like, come on now.

I don’t mind Ciampa winning last night. He’s got to get it at some point though.

Too early. He's got time to prove himself. Chucky got the last laugh though. Now will he finally make that movie with Scott Ha-, I mean Scott Steiner?

I'd be fine with it regardless. I believe be lost due to the fact that they want it to happening on a bigger stage so I'm guessing around Rumble or Wrestlemania time. He's clearly got the company behind him and given Ciampa did all of that to beat him, given Ciampa gave him his respect, he's good. They probably want him to get some winning feuds in first.
I just wonder who Ciampa will face until their next bout. I don't know.

I wanted him to win but think the way they did it was perfect.
Plus it gives ‘em somewhere to go. Breakker is the shit but he does need seasoning so-to-speak.

I would not have been opposed to him winning it.
But the guy has had like five matches on NXT TV so far, so I cannot say him losing here (and they made him look like a beast in defeat as well) was the wrong move either.
I think he will be champion sooner rather than later regardless.

Nah, that was booked really well.
It got him over, but it didnt hot shot him and overload him/overexpose him.

Nah, but I will say that as the match went on I became more and more okay with the idea of him winning. I really think that was one of the rare times someone actually looked good in defeat in WWE.

I wanted him to win but I think it's better he didn't. The more time he gets to develop, the better it'll be when he actually does win it.

I don't think it really matters too significantly to his long term development. Regardless of whether he has the title or not, he primarily needs to continue to develop his persona and work longer matches to prepare him for the main roster. He should be moved up within a year so he'll get there soon so he probably should get a title run just to prepare him for being a champion on RAW or SmackDown but it doesn't need to be immediate or incredibly lengthy for it to work.

I like that he has a hardship now, something to grow from rather than "he's the f***ing Guy now in NXT, deal with it marks"

I like that he has a hardship now, something to grow from rather than "he's the f***ing Guy now in NXT, deal with it marks" That's very true. If Bron won last night, the crowd might've started turning on him. Putting him over Ciampa (who's still loved by the audience) in his first title match would've been like another big "f*** you" to the black and gold diehards.
