So just saw this. One more interesting, entertaining flick from Edgar Wright. A kaleidoscopic fever dream of 60s London with horror elements. Lots of twists and turns and the kind of unique shots, edits, and great music choices you'd expect from him.
Really interesting watch. It looks and sounds great, fine acting throughout. Just another unique movie among Wright's pantheon of work.

Phew! Thought this might be about a Ruby Soho sex tape. Glad that didn’t happen to her.

Looks good from the trailer. The fact that I find Anya Taylor-Joy weirdly creepy-looking really adds to the feelings of unease.

Glad to hear a positive review. The two female leads are gonna lead me to the theatre to catch it soon.

Yeah it is getting pretty eh reviews. Admittedly there's a point in the third act where a lot of the audience is just gonna say "Nope."
I was entertained enough stylistically that I just rolled with it.
I liken it a bit to Luhrman's Romeo+Juliet or Copolla's Dracula where there is a bit of style superseding substance, but I enjoy em almost because of that.

Another thing I forgot to mention is what a nice 'farewell' performance for Dianna Rigg to have.

Is it me or has Matt Smith been playing mostly sinister characters since leaving Doctor Who?

Is it me or has Matt Smith been playing mostly sinister characters since leaving Doctor Who? Well I don't think Prince Philip would appreciate that characterization. But yeah, Smith has seemed to be favoring roles that are as different from his Doctor Who portrayal as possible ever since he left the show, as opposed to David Tennant who seems to be trying to incorporate as much of his Doctor personality as possible in his roles, even the villainous ones like Kilgrave. I get the impression that Matt Smith wants to be taken seriously as an "actor's actor", somebody who can play a wide range of parts in many different genres, whereas Tennant (and seemingly Capaldi and Whittaker) are more happy just kinda playing off their own zany personalities and finding their niche in parts that fit that.

Anya Taylor Joy in much prettier as a brunette, I believe. She has those giant, anime eyes like Sarah Hyland.
I am hoping that they get working on that remake of Nosferatu that Anya is supposed to be in. She seems like a good fit for an old school vampire movie.

Looks like the movie's pretty much a flop - was projected to do $5-10 million for its debut weekend, did $4 million.

Is it me or has Matt Smith been playing mostly sinister characters since leaving Doctor Who? It's the same with David Tennant, Good Omens & Ducktales aside

I've gotten to a point where I don't give a shit about movies unless they're Star Wars, Marvel, or a comedy that actually looks funny (which is rare the past decade or so).
I'm kind of interested in this because I surprisingly like Baby Driver a lot even though it isn't my normal style.
I'm still not going to theaters though, so Ill check it out on streaming.
