Speaking of Panini, they never have gotten the autographed Zach Wilson rookie card to me despite me redeeming the redemption card as directed. BASTARDS.

Looking forward to collector card prices jumping after the wrestler on the card is released.

Trading cards, hm? Like NFTs, but on paper or something. And not nearly as environmentally damaging.

So to those that are still into trading cards, why exactly have these come back into style? I was definitely on board back in the 90s like everyone else, but when the bottom dropped out I moved on.
I've seen youtube videos of buyers making recommendations, and articles about people waiting in line at Walmarts, and I'm so curious what brought trading cards back?
Is it just the expansion of inserts like one poster said?

I think the pandemic added to things, people saving money on going out and so collectable anything has kind of taken off, but cards especially. Pokemon cards got absurd again, for example, and I think Yu-Gi-Oh has also seen increased sales.

Also booster opening streams and videos became huge so you had everyone jumping on that bandwagon and said content creators fans trying to jump on it too. And I'm talking Logan Paul level content creators here.

And there's stuff like The Last Dance, which caused Michael Jordan cards to get even more expensive, and caused cards of the rest of the team to get expensive. Also, there's been market manipulation, no doubt about it. Look at the run on early 90s Marvel cards. All of a sudden out of nowhere, they sky rocketed in price, despite not being that rare. Once PSA got caught up on the backlog of grading, and the pop reports came out showing the Marvel cards weren't that rare, the prices dropped. They're still more than they were before the pandemic, but it was a big drop. To be clear, I'm not talking about Marvel Masterpieces sets getting more expensive, those have been expensive and in high demand for over a decade.

Yeah, there's definitely scamming going on, even if there's nothing as extreme as like manipulation driving up the prices of Nintendo games to extreme heights in what very well might be money laundering schemes.
