money.yahoo.com/wwe-leaves-topps-panini-amid-095540316.htmlLeaving Topps for Panini, who already handle their European card game, Stax. This is part of a wider re-emergence of the trading card market, which has gone insane in the last year or so, be it sport or non-sport. Big money, short term deal though, which protected Panini from a bubble burst, and gives WWE the chance to return to Topps, stick with Panini in the future or jump to another company. In a side note, this huge expansion in trading cards happened before, in the 90s, and the when the bubble burst, it burst HARD.

I think the big thing with trading cards right now is the chase cards have evolved from just foil stuff to actual collectables - following the evolving of Marvel cards doing the same sort of thing.
Topps got Jerry Lawler to do some sketch cards, they got loads of signature cards and the rookie card appeal of NXT series cards, plus weird cards like bits of trunks cut up and in squares or the ring mat from big matches.
There are some interesting bits and pieces in there, if you buy them by the case load.

Speaking as someone who has TRIED to get newer NFL cards (or at least very late 90s onward), caseloads are money sinks.

Record Profits? Yet they have Sonia Deville doing double duty as a ref because they don't want to pay an extra person for even a 1 day job.

Say goodbye to affordable boxes of WWE cards. Topps was always really good about that with WWE, with the exception of the higher end stuff like Undisputed and Transcendent. Boxes usually ran for $50 to $100 (for a hot product like Women's Division), which is nothing in the hobby today. Now you're gonna see WWE Prizm for $700 a box. Yeah, I'm pretty much gonna be done collecting any cards except for entertainment and AEW. money.yahoo.com/wwe-leaves-topps-panini-amid-095540316.htmlLeaving Topps for Panini, who already handle their European card game, Stax. The Panini trading card division could bring in nothing, and it wouldn't hurt Panini. It's been reported that their card division doesn't even bring in half of what the sticker division brings in.

Yeah, when I think Panini I think stickers. Particularly their football/soccer ones.

I still follow the trading card industry, but not nearly as much as I did in the 90's and early 00's. I do not like the exclusive deals of today, I much preferred when I could get cards in the same year from Topps, Upper Deck, Fleer, Donruss, etc.

They always make money. It's why I'm looking into buying WWE stocks. They never lose.
