Lost interest once DBZA was done but they do, do good Abridged series with FF7 and Hellsing so wonder why they didn't tackle something else unless that has been addressed

It’s funny this thread popped up since last month, I finally started watching dbz a after all these years of hearing about it and seeing random out of context clips.
Man, I can’t believe that thing went over 10 years and they only got up to 69 episodes. If I was watching in real time, I think I’d hvE gone crazy Waiting for a new episode to drop every couple of months apparently.
I’m just watching an episode or two a day on the exercise bike. That thing is great for making time pass while doing cardio machines.
After watching dragon super, and then the original dragon ball. I was tempted to watch dbz all over again but I didn’t want to commit the time to 300 episodes. This show is doing an awesome job of cutting out a lot of unnecessary filler.
I wish someone would give Naruto this kind of treatment. I liked watching it but I can’t sit through 800 episodes again.

Bumping this because this came up so I thought I should bring it here.
For context, TotallyNotMark is a Irish YouTuber whose covered anime for a while and done his own drawing challenges and such and a lot of his reviews and retrospectives on the series have been taken down by Toei which has covered years of work. Much of the revenue he was making from those retrospective works is basically gone.
So for as much as I get people being disappointed about how or why it happened...this would be what happened if they carried on.

Japanese media companies are absolutely batshit concerning videos that use any imagery whatsoever from their shows. It's genuinely astonishing to watch, but it's ruined a lot of YouTube channels that focus on anime, puro, etc., and it's very sad to see.

It's genuinely astonishing to watch, but it's ruined a lot of YouTube channels that focus on anime, puro, etc., and it's very sad to see. Which can be counterproductive, to be honest. If the video is purely a review video or highlights some interesting aspect of a show that might cause potential viewers to check out the official product, that can only be a good thing.

They unfortunately do not care. I imagine a lot of it is generational, with some of the hardasses being people who only poorly understand video-sharing sites, but a lot of it is companies cutting off their nose to spite their face, including bizarre displays like region blocking a director discussing seeking an intentional audience for their product, in the case of one of the worst offenders, Toei.

Just an update, but that original number has ballooned to over 150 videos taken down, meaning that approximately 3/4 of his entire channel is now gone.

I meant to put up the video he put out but forgot to but yeah, 150 videos. That's just insanity.

It mostly boil down to Japanese copyright law being more stricter then it is over here. Unfortunately alot of that stuff is considered to be illegal over there.

I won't upload the video because it's short but TotallyNotMark won't be continuing anything to do with Toei and taking a break after a video he's uploading tomorrow and re-evaluating things next year.
I'll move on from the topic personally because it seems "resolved" for the time and only brought it up because, for all the talk about TFS not doing DBZA content anymore...well, that'd be what happened.

And weirdly appropriately, the sidetrack I took sort of comes full circle because TotallyNotMark is part of the DBcember countdown this year.

And weirdly appropriately, the sidetrack I took sort of comes full circle because TotallyNotMark is part of the DBcember countdown this year. I was listening to StreamFourStar on Twitch last week when they were playing Among Us, and Quinn said that this year was probably the last year they'll be doing DBCember that's DragonBall related. Mainly because they've run out of ideas.

Which is honestly fair since, like, there's nothing really else they can do whilst Toei is (for reasons nobody really knows) not doing any more Dragon Ball shows. Like, they can't do Top 12 weapons for example because...there isn't 12.

Weird to bump this considering but I feel this was relevant to the previous discussions and...some of it is insane sounding.
And again, I'll say it again, this is why it's good for the time being there's no Abridged for the time being.
EDIT: I also just realized, the outcome of this is completely different to what Suede's been going through with his Pokemon reviews where he couldn't take his videos off of Japanese YouTube even though his situation fits the same sort of parameters as this one. Whole thing is f***ed, basically.
