{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}With The Watcher's appearance, I do definitely think it's a crossover episode of What If disguised as a regular episode, and they'll acknowledge the old school Marvel rule of creating a parallel universe with each change to the timeline, and that will be when Cable succeeds. He does say this is happening again for him, which means he's created a lot of similar realities by failing
Besides the adaptation of Days of Future Past, there was a two-parter in the original animated series where Bishop went back to prevent Apocalypse from creating a mutant plague, and at the end of the first part, Apocalypse grew into an SNK boss and killed all of the X-Men and the plague continued. In the second part, Bishop found an alternative way of destroying the virus, and the tiniest change was Apocalypse simply escaped rather than kill his enemies. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Actually it was Cable who found the way to destroy the virus, exposing Wolverine to it and his healing factor creating the antibodies for it. yep {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}

The sound design at the beginning of the climax is so staggeringly good. And it a show which has had a fair bit of dodgy voice acting, Rogue absolutely nailed her moments perfectly.

So I guess Magneto survives, and decides to make good on his earlier promise and raises an army which leads us to the three part finale.

There's a disease, future guy 1 stops it in the first place, good idea.
Future guy 2 needs it to happen so needs to undo the undoing of time. And personally, I love the relationship stuff. They explained the whole Rogue/Magneto thing, let it play out in ways that made sense and made the whole thing tragic. They handled the Scott/Jean/Madelyne stuff in an interesting way that's different from the comics but feels true to all the characters and how something like this would mess with everyone involved.

I definitely preferred how they handled the Maddie/Jean/Scott stuff here versus the book, because in the books Scott was a total ass on how he handled it

How often must the scoundrel prove himself the hero, before he believes it himself?

I absolutely echo the thought that this was going to be part of the 3-part season finale. Holy christ was an episode to drop middle of the season.

This episode showed the issue I have with this only being a 10 episode season. X-men inferno which should have been a multi episode arc if not just the overarching arc for the whole season was condensed into 1 episode and now we have jumped to {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}to E is for extinction They should have saved this for the next season IMO.

{Spoiler}So I saw Boom Boom showing up when they arrived in Genosha. Anybody catch if she was one of the dead bodies during the big fight? I hope they didn't kill her, I liked the character on X-Men: Evolution.

This episode confirmed that Gambit had potential to be an Omega level Mutant

One moment, Genosha is fine and happy and getting organised with Magneto/Rogue as leaders. The next--gone
I think this should have been a two-parter at least, ideally, the finale. Because I would have liked to have seen a couple of episodes showing Magneto/Rogue running Genosha.

Boy... Invincible spoilers... {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} They stole Rex Splode's f***ing thunder big style. Kicked 'em right in the teeth and said, "Now you're gonna get accused of copying us!"

Hands down the best episode of the series (including the original run) so far.

Hands down the best episode of the series (including the original run) so far. Coincidentally, one of the best episodes of the original run also featured Nightcrawler.

{Spoiler}I mean, that's how this happens in real life. Terrorist attacks completely flip our world around when we feel at our safest. I think having the last four episodes be so pre-9/11 nostalgia friendly to give us the warm and fuzzies of a simpler time, and then having this all happen at once in the middle of the season is a masterstroke of incredibly resonate emotive storytelling.

True {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}But I do think there could have been some good stories to be told with Magneto & Rogue running Genosha first. It's why this season should have been longer.
Have it be mid-season, sure. That is great. But I think by having the season so short, it has skipped on a few good stories to be told first. But then, the way they did it out of the blue like that was extremely impactful--perhaps having a couple of episodes between would have lessened the impact. No doubt it was a fantastic episode though. The best X-Men episode of all time. Probably one of THE BEST animated episodes of all time no matter the show. It was superb.

Beau DeMayo resurfaced on social media and revealed more about episode five {Spoiler}He wanted the animated series cast to 'grow up' alongside us kids who had no choice when 9/11 happened, the love triangle with Scott/Jean/Maddie is very much the same thing too...if we don't confront what we're becoming now, we will stagnate and be 'left behind' by the future, very much what Trask said at the end of episode 1
So I don't think they'll walk back on this.

So I don't think they'll walk back on this. {Spoiler}This makes what older Jubilee said at the very end of episode 4 about how "living the same adventures over and over isn't what life's about" al the more poignant. She was preparing us without us even knowing.
