Okay, in the cartoon, it said that the turtles became human-like because they had just touched Splinter, who picked them up.
But they said that Splinter became a rat because he turned into the creature he had 'most recently been in contact with', a rat.
Huh?
Didn't he just touch the turtles? Why didn't he turn into a turtle?
This has bugged me since I was young.

They sad it was the creature that they had been in the most contact with. He had been living with the rats for months, so he turned into a rat-man. The turtles were domesticated and lived with Splinter so they became turtle-men

Maybe after he touched the ooze covered turtles he thought ' ugh, how'm I gonna get rid of this slime? Come here Rizzo!' and hence tried wiping the slime off on the rat after touching the turtles.

No cuz Rizzo touched, um, some felt, and became a muppet.

It was stupid anyway. The real origin from the comics and movies was better, where Splinter was a rat who was mutated.
