Just wondering but what do you think is the most officially covered song ever? I see a few different candidates on the web like "Yesterday" and "Light My Fire". "Paint it Black" has got to be up there, I just downloaded an ass load of covers of that song from everyone from Black Dahlia Murder to The Tea Party, and somehow they're all cool. Thoughts?

Earth Crisis did Paint It Black too.
I think 'Yesterday" is generally cosidered the most covered tune.

Every time you go to a battle of the bands or crappy local showcase you will defenitely hear -
Killing In The Name/Bombtrack/Bullet in the head - Rage Against The Machine
Enter Sandman/For whom the bell tolls - Metallica
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
Smells Like Teen Spirit/Come As You Are - Nirvana
ANYTHING BY THE RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS - USUALLY WITH THE BASS DONE HALF ASSED

I hear "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash covered more than anything else in recent years.
All time, it's probably "Louie Louie".

I believe it belongs to Yesterday, which was covered something like 265 times.

www.coversproject.com/This site used to list the most covered song but they're going through a site upgrade so a lot of their features aren't up yet. It's pretty interesting though, especially the covers chain.

By the way, The Tea Party's version of Paint it Black is the best cover ever. Go and get it right now!

"Twenty-Flight Rock" is usually a standard cover amongst neo-rockabilly and psychobilly bands.

I heard somewhere it was Surrender. I'm not sure how true that is.
