Look at this stuff. It isn't neat. Why would you want to see these people compete?

Needs more poorly Photoshopped referee shirts on moving people.

I think match graphics where the wrestlers are facing each other ala a fighting game versus screen (think the AEW Rampage match graphics) are waaaaaay better than the standard match graphic of the wrestlers facing the "camera".

I really miss the old WWE style where they had the videos that transitioned into screenshots. especially the ones that played with it. but in this style... AEW had the Full Gear stuff like this but they put like the clockwork gears and stuff all over the opponent's faces and stuff... it wasn't just "here are two people in front of a colored background"

Guess the graphic design department must have suffered from budget cuts...

I could go on and on about this, a PPV match card graphic should ideally generate instant hype. They used to be the aces of it, now they're all like

WWE's entire presentation, from the match graphics to their arena set ups, is just so damn boring, IMO. It's all so shiny and sterile and just feels flat and lifeless.

The WWE is not a company that values creativity, whether it's on the writing side of things, graphics, production... They want homogeneity, and on the graphics side, they want things that can be knocked up fast because Vince changed his mind half an hour before it's due to be on air.

If someone has a title belt, I mind the look forward less, since they're showing the belt off. However, yes, looking like they are facing each other is almost always more dynamic. I also am not jazzed about the font, between the tiny "SETH" or Big E looking more like it says BIGE.

Because the cwc and myc match graphics looked like crazy mortal kombat fights

This was "peak" match graphics IMO: You get a feel for personality rather than just "opponents that are smiling or frowning"

I miss the motion graphics. Also, there's something to be said about licensed music. I miss licensed music for PPV's dearly, even if it was just a regular PPV and you had "Downfall" by Trust Company playing behind a match card, it got you more hyped than whatever generic hip hop beat and static graphics we get now.

Thing is, most of the PPV themes still ARE "licenced music", it's just... Like you said, a lot of the hip hop they use isn't exactly conducive to generating hype or energy.

Also not a knock on hip hop as music, I just don't think it's like...good for wrestling. it's WWE's attempt to be "hip" and it's not working.

For a billion dollar company, they come off really amateurish with their camera work and some of their graphics.

It is both sad and makes me laugh when I think about it because we in the LU rewatch thread with Gecko really get in on the production value of that show and yet companies with billion dollar owners still can't come even close to LU's production specifically their vingettes. The bar LU set for character and story vingettes should be the standard right now across the whole industry but nope and it is sad.
