Gotta save something for later. With absolutely no plan for when "later" is. Later being "after the people we're protecting are released".

It's funny this came up because Brandon Thurston just collected stats in the same way our EoE would about DQs, count outs and non-finishes What amazes me more than WWE being second on this list is the fact that WCW topped it and stuck as the top one despite being dead for 20 years. If that doesn't say anything about how much goodwill they eroded during their worst period, I don't know what does. I'm guessing that distraction roll-ups and other disappointing attempts at protection aren't counted, based on the wording. What the hell was up with CMLL in the late 90's? AJPW's stats are hilarious in comparison. Predictably, but still.

and on top of that it seems the numbers for the wwe are actually down with 2015 being the last year (bottom chart) they hit double digits.
also i would one day like to see a face who is immune to the entrance music distraction rollup. they can call them ... the Troper.

Unless it’s like the thing mentioned above where Cagematch aren’t referencing specifics like distractions or cheap rollups.

I think he speficially didn't include those since it'd be harder to get down pat.

Wrestler A becoming distracted by the entrance music and/or appearance by Wrestler B, causing wrestler A to lose the match is the laziest booking method, and quite frankly it insults my intelligence.

When did that start in WWE anyway? I feel like it began happening more often since the 2014 AJ Lee/Paige feud.

When did that start in WWE anyway? I feel like it began happening more often since the 2014 AJ Lee/Paige feud. Earliest concrete example I can think of is 2003 when The Hurricane beat The Rock because of Steve Austin entering. They don’t even stop Austin’s music to play Hurricane’s music when he wins the match, they just keep Austin’s music going. So let’s work backwards from there.

New earliest example… Ted DiBiase losing to The 1-2-3 Kid in August 1993 on Wrestling Challenge. Lets go of the damn Million Dollar Dream because Razor Ramon has come to ringside, they start jaw-jacking, DiBiase goes for the lazy pin, Kid counters into a crucifix to win it.
So this has been in the playbook for nearly 30 years at least.

So this has been in the playbook for nearly 30 years at least. Oh, I was mainly referring to when WWE started using the music distraction, which was the Hurricane/Rock match you mentioned earlier. Yeah, the way it was used with DiBiase at least made some sense: Razor came down to ringside, so it makes sense DiBiase would get distracted, plus it also made sense that he'd underestimate the Kid and basically let himself be distracted because he'd be figuring "I can finish this shrimp any time I want", only to find it backfire on him. The way it's done today you just get someone stopping whatever they're doing due to music playing, or they stop paying attention to an opponent who isn't anything resembling the kind of underdog figure the Kid was circa 1993. Just feels like another example of modern WWE booking where it feels like they just slot random characters into pre-planned segments ala a 2K game: whereas it made sense that a seasoned vet like DiBiase would underestimate an undersized upstart like the Kid, it doesn't make sense that, say, someone like, I dunno, AJ Styles would suddenly start ignoring an opponent like Matt Riddle or something (pulled two names out of a hat, sorry).
