hell has frozen over Cornette ripped Flair over this I'm not surprised. Isn't Cornette a big Danielson fan? ginormous, but he worships the ground Flair walks on

hell has frozen over Cornette ripped Flair over this Cornette's a jackass himself, but it is something to see that he'd refuse Flair's take I feel like his takes on modern wrestling have shifted a bit, unfortunately there are also still some stuck in the dark ages so it's kinda moot

I will say that the Triple H/Authority story leading up to Mania 20 did put Bryan over the top into becoming an iconic superstar, from where he was before. Honestly... Not really? It might've been that extra thing to really cement him but he was already crazy over with a ton of momentum going into SummerSlam to begin with. Really the Shield feud did more to elevate him than anything. I’m talking more about legacy, not in being over. Of course he was over prior to Mania (though not as much pre-Summerslam as he was post-Summerslam). But the feud with the Authority really cemented him as an icon in the industry, in my opinion.

I really think Cena was the one who truly put Bryan on the map at SummerSlam 2013. Bryan beat him clean which never happened to Cena other than very very few occasions.

I won’t take one thing away from Flair as a wrestler & I won’t comment on what his agenda might be as it has been well stated I this thread.
I categorically disagree with not calling Danielson a great wrestler and think it is so off base that my actual belief is that Flair is working here with the hopeful outcome of an AEW payday where he confronts Danielson.
Otherwise, it just doesn’t make any sense.

Ric still dropping those hot takes, hoping everyone will forget about the DSOTR episode. Basically. He's just saying anything he can to get attention... attention that's not about his legendary terrible behavior over the years.

Isn't it funny how Ric always has a low opinion of guys when he thinks that doing so will score points in the eyes of WWE management? Ask Bret, Kanyon and so on. By all accounts like most of the backstage people in WWE love Bryan (Vince included) ... so I'm not sure why Ric would think that.

That kind've ignores just how popular the YES! Stuff was before that. People were doing Bryan's YES! Chants complete with his arm movements outside of wrestling well before the Authority feud that they attempted to avoid at all costs.

After years of chasing the dragon, Ric still believes he can catch it. Admirable.

Right, as I said he was over a ton before the Authority storyline. But in my opinion he was put to the Hogan-Austin-Cena-Becky level through the Authority storyline from August 2013 through WrestleMania.

Yeah, that was more of a regional thing at the time and the promotions were 1a and 1b, if anything. You couldn't tell my Carolinian grandparents that the top promotion was anything other than Crockett/NWA. I mostly take issue with the way it was worded. It sounded as if that person had never seen NWA programming when they were younger. I'm 40 and I started watching NWA wrestling when I was 5 and that came to include WWF, AWA and WCCW and eventually WCW, ECW and SMW. I'm not trying to diss the NWA but they were a regional promotion and the WWF was worldwide. There is no argument to be made that Flair was more well known than Hogan, Andre, Savage, Piper etc. He was a big fish in a smaller pond and when he went to the biggest pond he kind of floundered.

Imagine someone tarnishing their legacy at a level that is unheard of. Times that by 1000 and you have Ric Flair.

Ric still dropping those hot takes, hoping everyone will forget about the DSOTR episode. Basically. He's just saying anything he can to get attention... attention that's not about his legendary terrible behavior over the years. The sad thing is most of his old co-workers probably don't really give a damn about the sexual assault stuff. DSOTR wasn't even news to them. They've not only known about but celebrated that part of his persona for decades. One of the biggest celebrities in the world The Rock was gushing over Flair a week or so ago. Just today Sting put him over when there was no need to. Tony Schiavone recently called him a great friend still. Even a younger generation guy like Sammy Guevara was working an angle with Flair online post-DSOTR. These people would still work with him given the opportunity despite knowing what he did to that flight attendant (and maybe countless others). He's only not on AEW or WWE TV right now because they don't want to deal with the backlash, not because they've excommunicated him on any kind of personal, moral grounds. He's still got Vince/HHH on speed-dial, still goes to restaurants with Tony Khan and gets invited to celebrity events. He still has a great life but he's such a narcissist that it's not enough for him. If he's not on TV to cut his rambling old man promos and getting attention that way he thought he needed a new podcast to get it that way.

As a fan of both guys’ wrestling work, Bryan on Total Divas was basically the most wholesome guy ever who chopped wood and was a sweet vegan husband to Brie and Ric is the guy who brought out Lil’ Ricky in places Lil’ Ric isn’t supposed to be. He’s not going to be winning the “best representative for 2021 wrestling today” fights.
