I don't remember how close these things were, but in my memory they were pretty close. Macho Man doing promos for his WWE legends action figure from Mattel, getting my hopes up that maybe some relationships were being repaired. Then, Macho Man died. They were very close. Pretty sure that commercial came out late 2010. Around the holidays I want to say. Savage died in May 2011. So maybe 6-7 months later. I was disappointed as well since I was also hoping the WWE / Savage relationship was FINALLY being repaired.

Brian Pillman died the same day of the Bad Blood PPV...where Kane debut.
Chris Benoit won the WCW championship, was gone the next day, then debuted(along with Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Eddie Guerrero) in the WWF a week later.
RVD's only WWE title reign that lasted for three weeks before it went "up in smoke."
Oh, and i'm surprised nobody mentioned Braden Walker's two week WWE run.
