The issue I have is that it's a) not a very snappy name to say, making it awkward to market or put into promos, & b) the phrase 'premium content' is synonymous with adult films (meaning TNA should've used it)

I have no problem with the term being used in the boardroom, on conference calls and business briefings. But it should never be used on tv by announcers or wrestlers.

Can't think of any good reason not to call them supershows. It's a term that's been used in live entertainment for decades, and the company has called its wrestlers superstars since forever.
Other than the obvious reason of Vince being a malfunctioning alien robot wearing a flesh suit, anyway.

Better than "Ultimate Thrill Ride" or whatever that Wrestlemania tag line was.

For me, it’s probably one of the less stupid corporate phrases to come from WWE, considering the business has largely moved away from the PPV model. Still, it’s incredibly awkward to put it into promos by the wrestlers for the most part, and most viewers would know what’s meant by “pay-per-view,” especially for legacy events like the Rumble & Mania. If they want the announcers (usually) to say it, or to put it in marketing materials, I guess that’s fine, but it should probably stop there.

I would think it is because they used it for Raw back when they killed the brand extension and I think they use it on special house shows like the MSG ones.

It’s fine. There’s no reason to say it every five minutes.

I probably wouldn’t have a problem with it if WWE wasn’t so buzz word heavy. It just feels like slipping further down the slope of corporate wankspeak.
A PPV is something wrestling fans might watch. A premium live event is something aimed at the WWE Universe.

It's along the lines of sports entertainment in that it's fairly harmless but absolutely no one talks like that or will call it that.

They’re technically correct since PPVs are no longer a thing. But it’s another example of WWE creating verbiage that sounds like an alien trying to understand how humans speak.

I think we’re all conditioned to freak out at everything but it’s really fine, IMO. they’re saying it a lot now to get people used to it but it’ll soon become part of the lexicon.

Just call them PLE's.
It actually rolls off the tongue better than PPV anyway.

Well, it’s something that no one from planet Earth would ever dream of saying in a normal conversation, so it fits perfectly for WWE, I’ll give it that.

I mean it's technically accurate but there something about the wording that makes it sound like turd polishing.

it's fine.
I think that the WWE just overused the hell out of it... like most of their buzzwords.

No one is ever going to really like calling something sterile corporate speak. It's why to this day almost no one actively calls it SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT in public but WWE and corporate heads. It's just unecessary and a way to make something sound as lame and uniform as possible.
