I see a lot mockery for it, but I’m fine with it.
House show: live event Tv: televised event Peacock/wwe special/Pay per view: premium live event
Premium sounds special and worth extra money. On it’s on a premium service platform

No one who's used Peacock regularly would ever call it a premium service platform.

I get why they re-branded it because with Peacock and the WWE Network before it, "Pay-Per-View" is an increasingly obsolete term for a lot of their audience. Though they still sell their premium live events as PPV's for people with crappy internet.
"Premium live event" does sound like something out of the WWE corporate word soup, but it's an accurate term.

I don't get why you *need* to call them anything other than "live event" or "show", but whatever.
It's just the constant need to get these phrases stuck in peoples' heads that gets a little goofy.

I'm not actually even a fan of the term "live event", never mind "premium live event". I think part of it is because it's a WWE corporate term to distance itself from old wrestling but it's entered fan vernacular now, whereas before people would've called them house shows, which annoys me.
Also I don't think I can bear the inevitable cringe of hearing a wrestler refer to "this Sunday, at the premium live event" during a promo.

I was goofing on it last night during SD, but I don't really care as long as we don't get people using it in their promos.

My issue with it is that is implies that "regular" live events are nothing worth getting excited about. It's like having pizza on your restaurant menu, but then every once in a while you offer "special good pizza."

. In most cases you literally aren't paying per view anymore, so I get the need for that change, but Premium Live Event is just confusing. You need Peacock Premium Plus to watch WWE, not Peacock Premium, so it doesn't make it clear to those customers. They could just put it in the Live Sports category but WWE doesn't want to be a sport. Imagine a real human saying "i can't wait for the Sports Entertainment Premium Live Event this weekend!"

It's like getting a premium side of onion rings or a green salad at a restaurant with a $2 upcharge.

I thought it was on the free tier or something and that’s where all the complaints of commercials were coming from.

Did the WWE fire their entire marketinbg department, because that's what this term feels like. Like Vince just gathered around the brain trust and said 'Marketing's gone, we need a new name for our product since we're not running on pay per view services anymore, suggestions?' then ignored all the ideas pitched and went with the first clumsy word jumble that entered his head.

Not gonna lie, I've got no problem with the term itself.
The problem I have is that each event has to live up to the title. So far the Rumble seems like it might from a match perspective. If it doesn't then it just needs to be "pay per view" because nothing will be "premium" about it. Live events are dope so a premium live event? Sign me up. Don't sign me up for a pay per view though because nah, those fail a lot.

Well I guess I stand corrected then. It's supposed to be that Peacock Free does not get WWE Network at all, Peacock Premium gets WWE with ad breaks on "premium live events," and Peacock Premium Plus gets WWE with no ad breaks on "premium live events." Premium and Premium Plus are bad names for streaming service tiers though, which is appropriate given how clunky the term "premium live event" is.
