He was there to "marry" AJ and Bryan, but got zero reaction from the crowd.
edit: changed the date

Yeah that definitely wasn't 2016.

Unless I forgot about a progressive angle where AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan hooked up and were set to marry, yeah, this doesn't add up.

And he controlled the "What?" chants like no-one else before or since.
Thread has a flawed premise and flawed punchline.

I was at Raw 1000, and the response Slick got in the arena was much better than how it came off on TV.

A nice flashback to my childhood that got a little ruined by the audio.

He went from a Jive Soul Bro to a Jive Slowbro.
*Boos rain out.*
That's a lame insult I know. Even the lamest Pokemon would have got a bigger pop.

Didn't help on TV they also cut to Shiek who was trying to cut his promo mid Jive Soul Bro and the mic wasn't even on

And he controlled the "What?" chants like no-one else before or since. Yes! Instead of trying to ignore it or shut it down, he leaned into it, rolling with the preacher vibe, like he was getting “Amens” from the crowd. Maybe it’s because of my Pentecostal church background, but I thought it was great.

He handled it very well. I hated the "What" chants as soon as it started and it's ruined many a segment. It takes a big person to deal with that BS and not want to go off script and go nuts on the crowd. It's strange they brought him back for that segment rather than using a random person in a priest role. Slick hadn't been seen in almost 20 years on WWF TV.
I wasn't watching at the time but I'm guessing fans invested many weeks into the Bryan/AJ relationship and like normal WWE in just a few seconds they crap all over it and make the investment worthless.

And now I feel old because Slick hadn't been on WWF/E TV since I guess 1993, so I am sure there were many in the audience who, quite literaly, had him before their times.

Unless I forgot about a progressive angle where AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan hooked up and were set to marry, yeah, this doesn't add up. It began as a spirited debate over the merits of flat earth theory, but became so much more.

Well the last time that theme music played, The Undertaker wasn’t even in the WWF.

They should have had him come out to the theme but it probably would have just as bad or worse with the fan reaction. I felt really bad for Brian Christopher when he was on Raw. You'd think with Encyclopedias and Anthology's the fans would know more of the guys from the past. Even as a kid in the 1990s I knew who guys from the past were from Apter Mags and VHS and that was before WWE doing the legends reunions and books and anthology's which are more prevalent now.
