“I don’t know what I can really say about it. We all kind of, I mean trust me, we were all, all of us, me, you, everybody, I was living it, we were all watching the same thing and kind of going, ‘what is going on here?, my thought process was just like, the ideas and concepts were introduced to me, that there would be this master plan behind it. You gotta understand it from my point of view, look at the guys I’ve been working with. They’re all incredible and being in the machine, even management, writers, everybody, the medical team. I was just used to a certain type of pre-meditated energy. You know, so I assumed with this, it would be there tenfold because it’s the flagship show. “So I had reservations about how far this was going to go and what would wind up happening to me but, in the beginning, I was trying to be optimistic. It was like, hopefully, there are wheels on this thing and people plan to, you know, do something with it, that had some sort of extension of continuity for people watching because continuity is very important in pro wrestling and in storytelling.” “The most bizarre part about it was the transition of the outfit and the lack of explanation that we failed to provide to the audience. Because as I said before, not at all to be redundant, it’s just continuity is extremely important, especially in storytelling. We’re conditioning the audience. You know, they are expecting to be, to have things explained.” “They check out and they go into analysis mode where they are going to draw conclusions and they will basically, they’re going to emotionally checkout, which is the absolute worst thing that you can possibly want to have for a wrestling show. People stop paying attention to a story you’re trying to tell and they just sit there like this, because they don’t understand what’s happening. That was happening every week, I could feel it, I could hear it, I could see it.” Source: www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/01/karrion-kross-comments-on-his-unique-wwe-ring-gear/

Kross seems to care a lot about his presentation and story; dude was never going to work in WWE, unfortunately.

Kross seems to care a lot about his presentation and story; dude was never going to work in WWE, unfortunately. I mean... we sandbagged him a lot about his weird mythos and the homework you had to do to understand his character in NXT, but the guy clearly cares about what he does. You gotta give him his props. Unfortunately, on the main roster, that doesn't mean anything when your attire, your name, even your identity can change on the whim of a nearly 80-year-old man who gets bored very easily and only cares about a muscular Samoan destroying everything in sight.

Kross seems to care a lot about his presentation and story; dude was never going to work in WWE, unfortunately. We Kross fans (that few that are here) told everyone this when everyone was asking who is Kross , what is his character etc I specifically said for everyone to temper their expectations on his in ring ability and understand he is a character and story driven person above anything else. I directed people to his youtube page so it should come as no surprise this guy cares about story and character and continuity etc but WWE are bottom feeders when it comes to their ability to create compelling characters and tell stories with just any sort of continuity and Kross sadly suffered for this. Hell Priest is suffering in a same manor they just have not gimped him up yet.

(Joke incoming) his interview was just as much rambling as his actual promos are (end joke)
We can talk about how the main roster screwed him (valid argument) he just never clicked in NXT either. I'm not his biggest fan but I'm intrigued as to why he couldn't get over in NXT or why Vince never really cared for him

It was painfully awkward watching him do his thing to dead silence.

Kross is a huge character guy it seems like. He may not be the best worker, but if you let him be him, he can be a solid talent. I loved him at first and I still think he is solid, but it just went to hell for him in WWE..

Man, that ring attire was dreadful.
It honestly looked like a rib.

While the specifics of what they did were awful I don't really blame them for trying to rework him for the main roster because his NXT gimmick plainly wasn't working either. No one gave a f*** about him before the callup either.

Obviously, the way to rework a guy to make people care about him starts with losing a 1 minute squash to Jeff Hardy on his debut.

See: Wyatt, Bray See: Black, Aleister They only thing over with Kross in NXT was his wife because she's hot. So taking her away from him on the main roster was the worst thing they could do.

If not for him my 5-minute photoshop of his helmet would have never been featured in Botchamania. I thank you for your sacrifice Cross

I often wonder what would have happened to him had he not gotten hurt in NXT. I still think his act would have had trouble getting over, but it never really recovered from that, I think.

I've said multiple times I thought rushing the title to Keith Lee to beat Dynamite was a mistake, I thought rushing the title off of Keith Lee to Kross was an even bigger mistake. And rushing the title back to Kross when he was healthy was the biggest one. They had to build him up more in NXT and through everything his quick feud with Escobar where he was more tweener than anything he was actually over a bit. But once they switched back to what he was and a heel chasing Balor it went down thr toilet

No one gave a f*** about him before the callup either. Yeah... he got a raw deal on Raw... (no pun intended), but again he was painfully unover in NXT and this was during the time where like everything got over.. but Kross came out to silence all the time... and for all the talk of his big character! almost everyone then pointed to his youtube or his website or whatever... but... no one is doing homework to figure out what a character's deal is. If it's not abundantly clear just from watching the show and doesn't translate to the ring ... it's not a particularly good wrestling character.
