LANGUAGE WARNINGJust came across this and I started to watch more clips from Reigns this time. Man he was so hated. Looking at it today though is funny to me. Just, wild lol. It reminds me of those threads back then and how we all reacted to him each moment he was on screen. I still remember when Balor beat him and the reaction and then we realized it was because dude failed that drug test and he ended up as US Champion shortly later lol.
Wild times.

I thought when he came back from kicking leukemia's ass again he was pretty tolerable and dare I say even booked correctly. The 4 or 5 years before were indeed painful, though. I thought the biggest problem (or at least one of the two biggest problems) with him during that run is his character was all over the place. They couldn't decide if they wanted him to be Austin, The Rock, Hogan, or Cena... so they made him all of those guys.

Strangely, I always thought the problem with Cena is that they didn’t know whether he was Austin, Rock or Hogan and it wasn’t until much later in his career that it felt like they got a grasp of who “John Cena” was.

There was also this feeling of "Shit or get off the pot" with him that aggravated fans too. I bring this up all the time, but I still remember how stupid it was that they had him win the Elimination Chamber match over more popular guys at the time like Seth and Braun, but then had Braun kick his ass after the match. And even Roman haters didn't get why they had him lose to Brock at WM that year as well.

At this point pretty much any chance of ever salvaging Reigns in my eyes has been completely shot honestly. I was open to it when he first turned heel but seeing how that's gone I just never want this dude on my screen ever again.

It's been a problem with the commitee booking behind WWE for decades now, they just parrot things they remember working back in the last boom period without any context or understanding of why they worked at the time.
