NXT 2.0 feels like “main roster lite” these days as well.
So if you’re a fan who does not like how they do things on the MR, and NXT was appealing as an alternative. Then this is also likely not appealing to you either.
Also none of the “new characters” so far scream “big start potential” except maybe like two tops.

NXT 2.0 is developmental, yes. The problem with the whole "Vince has oversight now" argument is that he doesn't. He put the book in Bruce Pritchard's hands, and isn't really invested otherwise.. I mean…if it’s in Pritchard’s hands, it’s practically in Vince’s hands. He’s there for a reason, to convey Vince’s known vision. Just because it’s not his name on the marquee doesn’t mean it isn’t him.

NOW they realize abruptness was a bad thing. Not in, like, 2019 when you expected a team writing a Network exclusive one hour show to write a two hour TV show in 2 weeks or anything.

"Hmm this seems like a bad idea, let me do it anyway" has been Vince's entire MO lately, not really a surprise I don't know why he just expects everyone to play along with his bullshit in 2022, he's not only no longer the only wrestling game out there that people can devote their time to these days on TV or otherwise, but when you actively try and force something on quite a beloved product, it's not taken well A once proud women's division downgraded to "Sex Sells", a New Blood vs Black and Gold WarGames where the whole crowd cheers for Black and Gold, Bron ripping the Gold X in half and then you cut half the original NXT staff, and constantly seem to mistreat the old talents who are there people still like, because they suddenly aren't the vision anymore There are aspects of NXT 2.0 that aren't terrible, but the fact they changed it so quick, and so blatantly, and expected everything to be ok is laughable, they reap what they sow, and what they sow is this show is doing worse than when HHH was running it, and that has to stick in Vince's craw a bit.

Also part of why developmental worked before is that:
1. It was on the network and only an hour.
2. The characters felt like actual characters with actual arcs.
Neither is the case here. Supposedly wanting “people who could main event WrestleMania.” There’s ONE guy here that feels like he could MAYBE do that in time. That’s it. There’s a reason why this show gets mocked for “feeling like the New Generation Era.” You have a bunch of cartoonish character that, and I actually LIKE a few of them but still, felt out of date 30 years ago and there seems to be zero consistent character growth either. All of these people feel like midcard comedy goofs if they got to the main roster AT BEST!!
Then you took the Women, who wants had one of the best divisions in NA, and now it’s all about how “sexy” people are. I don’t blame Toxic Attraction for this, I think they have potential. But all you’re giving people to go on is boobs and asses, and that doesn’t work as well as it did in the 90’s. Same with Elektra Lopez, etc. it feels like the Divas Era again.
Then you have characters like Kacy and Kayden, or Cora Jade, who feel like “a bunch of middle age men trying to write what they think young people are into these days” and it’s pretty cringe, etc.

Where as the previous bunch felt like stars that people were ready to see carry this company forward.

Bayley’s long character journey.
Sasha Banks rising to become one of the top heels.
Sami Zayn’s road to the title.
The Gargano/Ciampa saga.
Asuka being a badass.
And many more
What on NXT 2.0 feels even remotely as cool and/or interesting as any of those?

Cameron Grimes arc both pre-change and after change has been great. LA Knight feels like a star to be, although he’s getting a little old for developmental. Gunther and Dunne are still top prospects potentially if the main roster is interested. Ditto Ciampa, though he’s obviously older. Diamond Mine’s Nile and the Creed Brothers have a lot of potential. I’m digging Tony D’s character and feud with Dunne, and seeing where they go with that. But again, it seems they’ve opted less for a self-contained indy feel and more of a developmental so those great storyline arcs might not be there as much as they were with 1.0.

It happened too quickly. They should have fired all the talent and behind the scenes people in waves, not all at once. They introduced to many characters too quickly, it hurt the brain of all the fans who were used to the super indie people who could never get over on the main roster. It was just too much, too soon for us simple fans.

If you want an idea of how quickly this shift happened, we learned who Von Wager was like five minutes before he was announced as fighting for the title in the main event.

Most of those happened BEFORE the rebrand. Grimes felt better pre-rebrand as well imo. Dunne feels listless in this NXT honestly. And well we’ve seen the reaction to the WALTER name change and it is decidedly not good. I like Tony, but he’s got “midcard comedy act” written all over him on the the MR. Hayes has “Vince pushes him for a month, then gets tired of him and he falls down the card” written on him as well. Again they’re NOT “developing” people. It’s just a bunch of goofs doing random crap most of the time.

I love how it boils down to WWE thinking they did the changes to fast and basically ignoring the fans thinking it's shit.

It was just too much, too soon for us simple fans. They shouldn't have fired or let go of any of the talent at all from 1.0. A lot of these 2.0 acts are going to flop on the main roster. Not to mention all you did by cutting the vast majority of the 1.0 talent is pissing damn near everyone off.

NXT 2.0 is what happens when you don't give a shit enough to do any focus groups or take fan feedback and just go "This is what they want, right?".

I think if NXT 2.0 had been a gradual transition over the course of six months or so instead of, "Oh, we're doing this three weeks after we decided to do it, also here's the NXT Champion losing in 90 seconds on Raw, Charlotte's title reigns being retconned out of existence, and constantly telling you that what you've been invested into for years is shit and all of the people you enjoy need to get out of the way for these new people you've never heard of," it would've had a way stronger chance. They basically did everything they could have to ensure 1), it'd be an unfocused scattershot mess with no clear vision behind it, and 2), it'd reflexively piss a lot of people off.

I can fix things. First, Jacy Jayne needs to be louder, angrier and have access to a time machine. Next, whenever Jacy isn't on screen, all the other wrestlers should be asking, "Where's Jacy?"
