Currently I only use three paid services via my Smart TV. In terms of changed quality I’d rank them from best to worst…
1. Amazon Prime - This is the only one that hasn’t really changed. Maybe it’s a little better or a little worse depending on what content is added each month. I’d argue it got a little better because the search function is much better than it used to be.
2. Netflix - This used to be awesome when I first got it. Some of my favorite shows are The Office, Parks and Rec, and Family guy. Now all those are gone. From the US version anyway. A few times a year they’ll come out with a really good original film, comedy special, and/or TV show. But if I didn’t split this one with someone I don’t know how I could justify keeping it.
3. Hulu - I’m as old school of a Hulu user as it is possible to be. I remember when it was just a website and some people weren’t even sure if it was legal or not. Then when it became a pay service for a while it was really good. The playback for me was never as good as Netflix as at least for me it would be more likely to lag. But their new TV episodes added regularly have always been great. The major drawback though is lately it has become borderline unusable for me. It constantly stalls when loading and if I try to search for anything I just get a grey screen. And some of the original content…yikes.
