Disney is going to update the super racist Chinese cats to be more acceptable in todays climate by making them "Disney's first gay character". And then they'll manage to get banned in China anyways, because the gay cat was still Chinese.

Maybe it could work. With it being lower tier in the Disney canon, maybe there won’t be as much pressure to make it live up the original. Because all the live action remakes they’ve done were remakes of highly beloved classics. So maybe it can be good. Or they could fall below even the original. So who knows.

Yes, but they're all cat-themed. So this guy is running a talent agency and one day this family of cats come in a momma cat, a daddy cat, a brother, and sister kitten, and their little pet chihuahua. The daddy cat says. "Hey, we got an act for you." The agent says. "Okay, the fact you can talk is pretty impressive itself, but what is the act." ..... The act ends with Bob Barker pleading with the audience to spay or neuter their cats.

I swear we're this close to live action Dinosaurs that's just done the exact same way as Dinosaurs except we call it live action this time and make it an hour longer.

Aristocats is generally considered "ok" so it's not a BAD idea to remake it... Will they fix the idiot butler for deciding that all of the cats lives don't live concurrently cause his whole reason for trying to kill them... he did the math by adding all of their lifespans instead of... like just choosing one >_> Or movies that didn't quite reach the zeitgeist like "Oliver and Company". That one would have to be a period piece. The look and tone of that movie could only take place in the 1980s. I mean It's based on Oliver Twist... so they could mess with the time again. Disney is going to update the super racist Chinese cats to be more acceptable in todays climate by making them "Disney's first gay character". On the plus side, that scene was actually in Lady and the Tramp, not the Aristocats. On the minus side, it says something that the latter is apparently so unmemorable that we recall cat scenes from other Disney film than the ones in this movie. There WAS a racist Asian steretype in Aristocats though... a cat played the keyboard with chopsticks....

Again, while "The Aristocats" isn't exactly up there in terms of Disney movies that are universally praised, I always wonder why Disney doesn't just use live action to remake box office flops like "The Black Cauldron" (which, again, would require Disney making mention of the existence of said movie) or movies that didn't quite reach the zeitgeist like "Oliver and Company". You answered your own question. Disney is not in the business of remaking flops. We'll never see remakes of Black Cauldron, Atlantis, or Treasure Planet. They want to remake movies that were hits and have a built-in audience to make money off nostalgia. Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, Jungle Book, Mulan. All with built-in audiences. And the upcoming ones. Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Snow White, and now The Aristocats. And when they've remade all the classic animated hits, they'll either start all over again or start making live action remakes of current hits. Within 20-30 years, we'll see Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Moana, and especially Frozen. And they will keep making money off nostalgia.

Black Cauldron being remade would be awful because it would make significantly more sense to make "The Book of Three" and then "Black Cauldron", instead of remaking a frankly terrible adaptation that tried to mash them into one story.

When I hear "Live Action" I want real live action where all the cats are puppets or animatronic. No CGI. I want more damn movies with animatronic cats you cheating flakes at Disney.

The one I'm looking forward to is Robin Hood just because trying to do a bunch of furry animal people with bows and stuff on a Disney+ budget sounds terrifying.

If this is just a movie that uses real cats for all their scenes as the voice actors haphazardly deliver their lines and adlib as cats do cat things, I'll love it.

Is there really a market for this? Aristocats are more like in The E Tier level of Disney Films The little white kitten is ridiculiusly popular in Asia. Maybe aiming to cash in on that

At this rate I'd say to heck with it and do a Once Upon A Time Season 8. Then I remembered how that ended...
