Jade Cargill holding the title has me wondering. Seeing as she is not a full year in since her debut, she had been awarded the TBS title not too long ago. If you also think about it, it's also the same amount of time when Goldberg debuted in WCW. and then was awarded the world title. You can put the US title in there as well, but still.
I know Goldberg was over, and one of the primary selling points of him was his unstoppable undefeated streak, squash matches against jobbers notwithstanding. What Jade Cargill also has in common with Bill Goldberg is that she is still a rookie in this business, just like Goldberg was not a full year in the business when he was pushed.
Like I said, I know that he was over, but you think that he was given the title too soon? I would put Brock Lesnar in this type of topic, at least from his early-2000s run, but Brock showed that he was already a good wrestler. What are your thoughts?

Given how things worked out - no. Goldberg never developed into a good wrestler and while he got better, it was never to a point that his work warrented a push to the title. His natural gifts were there from the very first time he squashed Hugh Morrus. Hotshotting him to the title was absolutely the right thing to do and I'd argue they could've even done it earlier.

I would say Goldberg got it at the right time, it's just that he never learned to reel it in a bit. Too little discipline for his power.

Yes, but only just.
The blew off his title build up in an idiotically short space of time and gave him the belt on Nitro when it should have been a big moment drawing huge numbers on PPV.they ran a lot of events, they could have dragged out Goldberg getting big wins for the best part if a year without harming him, but they rushed and at the end of it, there was no plan in place for his next big angle, just a washed up Curt Hennig.

Definitely same with Sheamus in WWE Sheamus was at least wrestling for 7 years before he made his WWE debut, bit of a difference to Jade and Goldberg. Incidentally, my non-wrestling fan gf who watches AEW with me loves Jade and we were both rooting for her to win the tournament!

Yeah other than "got title pretty quickly" comparing Sheamus to Goldberg is apples and oranges. Goldberg was lightning in a bottle. Sheamus was not. Shit even his title win was "Big Match Jawn falls backwards through a table" vs. holy shit Goldberg decimated Hogan to win the title.

Yes, but nothing to do with Goldberg's ability. Should have saved it for Fall Brawl and had Goldberg's first big title defenses at Halloween Havoc and Starcade. Instead, they rushed for a TV rating and then had him fight Curt Hennig at Bash at the Beach.

It wasn't too soon, and he should have held it for longer than he did. I'm not even the biggest Goldberg fan, but he was their headline act. He should have beat Nash, then gone on to have some epic rivalries with Sting, Bret Hart, Scott Steiner, etc.

Winning the title when he did wasn't an issue. But his world title reign was ass. He barely appeared on PPV as champion, let alone defended the title, and lost it, and the streak, to a cattle prod.
