Good for him. He gets made fun of a lot just for being uncharismatic, and he certainly is a dorky guy. He really seems like he cares about people and wants to help though.
I'm happy for him.

I was gonna ask if he was being nominated for inventing the Internet, but was confusing Al Gore with Jonathan Levinson.

Gore is so funny. Like I said, I think he seems like a great person, and he definitely knows his facts, but he is such an easy target for mockery.
In the Inconvenient Truth movie, I remember him saying something like "Earth is like the Baby Bear planet, because it's not too hot and it's not too cold". I laughed so hard I almost cried.

Bush is hilarious, that's why there's so many of those stupid Bush quote books out. Well that and my fellow Americans are retarded and actually buy them.
On topic, apparently I underestimated just how much Al Gore has done for the fight against global warming. Damn. Good for him.

As somene who is studying atmospheric science, I know how much of an advocate Mr. Gore is for the environment. My only problem with this honor is he has ignored some key scientific data in his movie and said things that have yet to be proven to be true. El Nino does not cause more intense hurricanes, it actually creates shear that rips up hurricanes and causes them to not get as strong. Heck, half the scientic community disagrees with the notion that global warming is causing more intense storms (I think it is). The fact that he has given the environment so much exposure is awesome because it is a problem. I just think the nobel peace prize is a shame. I mean, Rush Limbaugh is up for one too!

Glad someone here had the nerve to question Gore like I do. Give it to George W Bush, the man who's "wasted" efforts in the middle east led to the capture and execution of one of history's greatest tyrants, Saddam Hussein. ::sits back w/ unpopped popcorn and waits for the flames to cook it.:

Yeah, let Miami sink into the ocean. At least there's no more Saddam.

Yeah, let Miami sink into the ocean. At least there's no more Saddam. Yes, sink all of Florida, so that mean man in the Tigger suit won't bully our children anymore! (Unless that was the Cali Disney park. If so, my joke fails.)

Thanks for posting, it's nice to hear from someone with more of a science background. To be perfectly fair to Gore though, if half the scientific community disagrees that global warming causes intense storms, that implies the other half does believe it.

Did I miss a memo where we suddenly allow political discussion?
Great topic, too bad some people (Godz, I'm looking in your direction) decided to take it political.
Lockity...
