It might be too soon to tell since right now Cena is where Rock was like 12 years ago, but I personally enjoy Cenas work more with Peacemaker than anything Rock has done

I wish Rock would do more stuff like he did with Southland Tales but he's locked in a prime position and isn't moving from it
Cena on his way will have more chances to do diff things and not be stuck in a niche role like Rock or Batista

Probably would’ve been his most hilarious role.

Rock is the better actor but he is also the more likely person to star in a shitty movie .

Cena always comes off like a cartoon character to me, whether he's acting or on a talk show. Very unauthentic in the roles I've seen from him. Rock is the better actor, though I generally don't like his movies.
Cena is the better rapper by far, though.

Batista is generally doing good work at this point and works far better as a character actor than the other two. Rock hasn't really had to try since Fast Five, and has been coasting for so long that he's just incredibly boring now. So I'll go with Cena just based on him not actively making everything worse (and being solid in the Peacemaker show/Blockers at least).

They both had the same problem of every movie basically them just being Cena and Rock.
But Peacemaker is actually showing Cena has some range...where as Rock really hasn't yet.
Maybe Black Adam changes that but for now it is Cena.

Rock plays Rock in every movie I’ve seen him in. But damn was he good in Pain and Gain.

I guess Cena. He usually entertains me in his movies, even when they're complete dogshit.

His performance in Southland Tales blew me away. Granted those were in my peak stoner days, but I stand by it. I still think it's the best thing he's ever done from an acting standpoint, and back when I saw it I had high hopes for his future. But then he settled into action (comedy-ish) guy, and has been coasting ever since. Cena's sample size is too small for me to comment on. But I will say he has deadpan down to a science, and made me legit laugh out loud in The Suicide Squad. Plus he was in his undies. So wins there too.

Only one of them was in Legendary, where Patricia Clarkson wanted her son back but still didn't know how.
Just saying.

When he's trying, Rock. But – as others have pointed out – he's reached a level of stardom where he doesn't have to try any more.
Cena's doing some damn good work in Peacemaker, though. For a show filled with dick jokes, he's been allowed to show a remarkable amount of range.

Honestly i think Cena and Bautista will outlast the Rock unless he changes something. Both have more range - Bautista especially has been in a lot of big, highly respected movies. Dwayne is a master of the action movies that prop up yearly box offices but does he really have classics? Arnie was in a million schlock flicks but The Terminatior will never be forgotten. Rock, so far? Probably just Moana or maybe the Jumanji sequel, but the gazillion fast and furious movies are even now unknown outside their admittedly extremely large casual audience.

Both are better than they get credit for, but yeah, Cena seems like he's already kept from getting pigeonholed in the stereotypical big dumb action movie. I feel like both are one surprise role away from suddenly being taken VERY seriously by a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't.

One of them would have to do a role that is remotely challenging in order to measure that

I mean Moana is likely not going anywhere... That said even there The Rock basically played The Rock.

I'm not bored with Rock, and he's got some standouts like Moana, but a lot of his stuff isn't exactly testing his range. Bautista is definitely making a concerted effort to get some variety in there. The Blade Runner part, in particular, was an excellent choice.

I'm going to say John Cena because his niche seems to be wild and crazy characters whereas Dwayne basically always plays himself (not that that's a bad thing because he's very likeable regardless, but I just can't see Dwayne playing someone like Peacemaker).

The Rock is interesting because he’s shown he CAN do more when he wants to. But he’s carved out this very profitable niche for himself in Hollywood and he seems perfectly cool with continuing on with that.

John Cena has shown that he has a bit of range, as Peacemaker, Vacation Friends, Blockers, and Trainwreck are all very different characters from the usual action fare we saw early in his career with The Marine and 12 Rounds.
The Rock, on the other hand, when was the last time he played a character other than “confident, cool, tough action guy?” He clearly has comedic timing and charm for days, but he’s been coasting on playing the same role for at least the past 10-15 years.
