It needs a better name. Peacock is a terrible name for a subscription service. Call it NBC Mediawesome Youniverse. MY Streaming Service for short. Ehhh? Ehh?

So what happens if Peacock fails and WWE finds itself without a home? Any speculation?

Every time I hear it talked about in the office/friends it's referred to as "The Cock"

I might be the only one but I like the name Peacock. It makes sense for the legacy of NBC as a whole and is catcher then just calling it NBC+ or something like that. Yes, even though people call it “The Cock”.

They could take that block away in minutes if needed. I don't think the Peacock deal has changed much in terms of the classic content, though, as we're getting it added at the same rate it was being added in 2020.

Classic is pretty much the same, but the original content seems to be slower to come out, as far as documentaries go. It’s mostly Broken Skull Sessions and Ruthless Aggression. Still never released the Vladimir documentary.

So what happens if Peacock fails and WWE finds itself without a home? Any speculation? The amount of money they're paying WWE is a big reason it's in the hole. Buy they'll ride it out for awhile. Them not having a service while everyone else does would be embarrassing.

Them not having a service while everyone else does would be embarrassing. They projected their break even in 2025 based on the amount they need to spend on content in the beginning. They have revenue of about $10 per paid subscriber per month. So if they estimated 1.5 million are paid subscribers due to WWE (which is what the report said), that’s around $180 million per year in revenue for them. They’re reportedly paying WWE $200 million per year so it’s not much of a loss as compared to their 1.7 billion in losses for 2021.

I have Peacock, but I wouldn’t have it without the WWE Network part of the service and I probably wouldn’t have the WWE Network without it being bundled with another service as I was on the verge of cancelling my subscription when NBC bought the WWE Network.
Outside of the docuseries “John Wayne Gacy: The Devil in Disguise” and their day-of release of “Halloween Kills” there’s been nothing I’ve gone out of my way to watch that was exclusive to the streaming service.
I eventually plan to watch the “Chucky” series and “AP Biology”, as well as revisit “Community” in the future, but as a stand-alone service it’s the weakest of the bunch.
I’m sure once HBO’s streaming rights to “Friends” expires, and it’s moved over to Peacock it’ll boost subscriber numbers just like “The Office” did, but like the article stated until they have a few hits that are exclusive to the streaming service.
Peacock is going to be a second or third tier service, and anything they have that has potential to break into the pop culture sphere will likely end up on the USA, SyFy or NBC networks first leaving Peacock with nostalgic wasteland of resurrected old intellectual properties such as “Saved By the Bell”, “Punky Brewster”, and “Bel Air”.
Each of those may spark some interest, but ultimately are stark reminders of the superior programs that predated them or just weren’t refined enough for modern television.

Yes, WarnerMedia owns Friends and owns HBO Max, so NBC Universal would have to pay a ton of money just to share the show with HBO Max and even more to convince WarnerMedia to let Peacock have the show exclusively. Multiple Warner Bros. TV shows that were streaming on Hulu have moved "in house" to HBO Max over the last few months. Some of them are now shared between the two while others were removed from Hulu and are now exclusive to HBO Max.

With the news with Netflix stock recently, I am not surprised. Streaming services in general are going to have a hard time this year. I can definitely see some stream only WWE events to boost viewership. Too many services have flooded the market. What began as an affordable alternative to cable has turned into an expensive mess. This, cord cutting looked like the future, and now it's looking much less so, and cable's looking stabler. Oversaturation of the streaming market, things becoming "exclusive" to certain ones and going off Netflix and Hulu's of the like, and services like Netflix and Hulu among others raising their monthly prices, are just not becoming sustainable, especially as an alternative anymore. A lot of these companies bit hard in the pandemic era for streaming, especially for alternative ways to view films, but as time goes on, not only are things getting more muddled, but the companies and directors of said films are getting exceedingly more pissed off, because stuff like Spider-Man among other things are proving the Box Office isn't suffering like it was the last year and a half. The more the world returns to normal, the more imo this stuff is gonna hurt. Don't know if any of them will fold in the near future like Quibi did (Which was an unmidigated disaster), nor do I think any of the companies would want to admit some of them are in trouble right now, but certain trajectories certainly tell the story right now... it ain't great.

Every time I hear it talked about in the office/friends it's referred to as "The Cock" They need to hire Jay and Silent Bob to do promos for the streaming service about how Bob loves The Cock.
