A finisher delivered in a usual match = victim prone on the floor The same finisher delivered in a Rumble = victim is somehow still on their feet but dazed enough to immediately be sent over the ropes.
It’s not unique to the rumble itself but it bugs the shit out of me.

Whenever there is a segment of Wrestlers drawing out their numbers. Its funny how entries 1 and 30 always seem to be the first to be picked out.

For all over the top matches every promotion does. Guy gets knocked through the ropes and just stays there the rest of the match until the end You have 10 seconds to get back in, if not you're disqualified and eliminated Similarly, wrestler draws number whatever but doesn't actually enter the ring until several more entrants have come and gone. If you draw, say, #7 then you should have until the buzzer sounds for #8 to get in the ring or you're disqualified. That actually used to be an official rule that was invoked a few times

Somebody beats up a wrestler in the Rumble & steals their spot. Umm, why is this allowed? Doesn't happen in any other match, why this one? And if this is part of the rules, where aren't there gangs on wrestlers standing round gorilla trying to ambush #30?

Someone who has been already eliminated instead of leaving, causes the elimination of someone else. God I hated that. The way I see it, if you're eliminated from the Rumble, any actions should be null and void in terms of results. So if you're eliminated and send someone over the top rope afterwards, it shouldn't count.

Not really a trope per se but I would like to see someone win who WASN’T so predictable

"Both members of jabroni tag team enter". It's hilarious in 2K where Fernando and Konnor are perennial Rumble contenders, but kinda frustrating in real life when twice the cannon fodder get in over promising/underpushed talent who could use the rub. Even worse when one comes in early and is eliminated quickly and their partner turns up around #28. The crushing disappointment of that wasted late spot. If their only value is as a team put them in the ring at the same time!

Popping in now for my usual “I’d love to see how this stuff would look without all the tropes, it’d be weird” post. Originally thought that said ropes, not tropes, which you gotta admit, would be weird.

Kofi finding creative ways to avoid elimination went from impressive athleticism to just being downright silly (standing on a pancake). I say it every year, I want a heel to ruin the athletic return to the ring spot. Just push the person over. I would pop so much for that.

The heel tosses Kofi over the top rope, who finds some contrived way to avoid touching the floor. Rather than just watch in bemusement as Kofi makes his way back into the ring the heel simply slides under the bottom rope and clotheslines him, and then we can finally write that trope off for a decade or so.

The most egregious was the year he used a chair and slowly hopped back to the ring. I was yelling like Krusty yelled at the Generals "Just push him over!!!"

entrant 1 or 2 lasting the whole match. The luck of the draw is pretty trivial these days.

- Big guy eliminating most of the people - "Wow he's turned on his partner!" "Well it's the Rumble, anything to get a better chance at winning!" - Someone hiding and popping up at the end
I'll never get rid of Kofi or Naomi saves as they're actually clever rather than any of the bullshit I just named.
