House shows are more fun but I've found the crowds to be louder during televised events.
NXT Takeover London was the best crowd I've ever been a part of.

My entire state (WV) has only ever had one PPV, in 1999. We get multiple house shows a year, so a TV taping/PPV is a big deal to me. The closest PPV or television ever gets is a 3.5 hour drive to Columbus, OH.
The 10/30/19 AEW Dynamite was the first TV taping we've had since WCW was here in 2000.

All things equal, I'd probably want to be at a PPV to see something big happen.

Never been to a PPV, but found the house shows a better experience overall than the one Smackdown taping I went to back in '04.

I've never been to a PPV unfortunately. Closest was a WCW Clash of the Champions show in 1997. House Show blows TV away though. At a House Show, it actually feels like they're performing for the crowd. At a TV taping, you feel like a prop. And at WWE there is so much downtime. I want to a Raw in 2016 and it felt like half the show had the arena dark watching the tron. I'll never go to a WWE TV taping again.
I will say though, the downside of a house show in a place like Green Bay or Milwaukee is that you know 100% that nothing important is going to happen. At a PPV, you might see something big.
