So I decided to watch mania 10 the other day because of people hyping it up as being a great mania. After watching the show I agree. The one thing I had a problem with was Bret pinning Yoko after he lost his balance and Yoko vs Luger ending in a DQ. What was the general consensus on this? Did Bret ever get a clean win over Yoko after? Did Lex? Also I had no idea Macho Man was still wrestling at this point. Did he ever fued with Bret?

I'm mostly fine with it, but think that he could have stood to get on the turnbuckle to do his elbow drop. That'd feel a little more triumphant.
Like I say, I'm mostly fine with it, Bret had in a lot of ways established his credibility, anyway, but it'd have put a punctuation mark on it.

Maybe Bret could have grabbed Yoko’s legs and pull him down like some powerbomb from the second rope

At the very least I always felt it would have added a ton had Bret hit a drop kick to the back of Yoko’s legs, so it looks more like he’s taking control of his destiny instead of Yoko getting overconfident.

Never liked that finish. Bret is, like, THE BEST at clever finishes to big matches, so I don't know what he was thinking here.

So much could have been reworked to be a better show BUT the post match celebration for Bret is so awesome to me. Much like the end of the Calgary Stampede IYH, the Wrestlemania 10 end is the stuff of series finales in TV shows or end of movies. This was and still is real life to Bret and it shows. It was great seeing so many of the guys from the face side come out to celebrate with him. If WWF had a season or a series finale, that would be it. It was very special.

Hated the finish of the match but I absolutely loved the visual of Owen standing in the aisle way seething with jealousy at Bret being celebrated as WWF Champion. Such a great start to what became their awesome feud capper at SummerSlam.

There's a reason you've never, ever seen the finish in the video packages and only Bret holding up the title. It wasn't even a larger part of the Owen storyline. They wanted the belt on Bret and wanted to protect Yoko, so they did a f*** finish.
Mania X is easily the most overrated Mania of all time. It's the Rumble 92 of Manias.

X is a decent WM but I don't think a great one. Other than Bret/Owen and the ladder match there's not much that stands out.

I agree with you that they thought the booking protected Yoko, but in my 12 year old mind it signified he wasn't to be taken that seriously as a threat anymore. He fell off the ropes doing his move. How was I supposed to view him as a monster after that?

Bret should have hit him with a leg drop.

The match finish is stupid, the WrestleMania ending with the entire locker room congratulating Bret, only for Owen to stare him down in disgust from the entrance, is f***ing fantastic.
Especially when you see the legit joy on the face of some of the old timers that Bret is the champ.
As for Savage, I seem to recall he wanted to work with Bret and was willing to put him over, but Vince didn't think it would be interesting. A phrase which befuddled me as a kid and as an adult.
