I’ve said this before, getting vets down in NXT for a stint or longer is the best idea if you’re not going to keep Cole, O’Reilly, Gargano etc. If you’re not doing much with them on the main roster and want to prepare people for the main roster, get them down there to train the next generation.

It’s what they should be doing with people like Gulak, Tozawa and even Ali instead of asking him to do racist storylines.

Honestly I’d be fine with this. NXT has a lot of green people there now. So why not take some of your experienced vets who aren’t getting much to do on the MR, and send them down there at least for a bit to work with the younger wrestlers?

It could be a good way to keep building up Bronn at least.

Rampage is being booked strong though. If they put Reigns or Brock on NXT 2.0, that'd likely bump these ratings too.

No, i just mean NXT 2.0 is the developmental show with the weird gimmicks, retro style sex sales approach and unknowns.

Rampage is having top flight talent appear every week in featured matches.

Rampage is much closer to what Smackdown was at launch - a second show - than what NXT 2.0 is now.

I dont feel it's fair on the talent NXT 2.0 is trying to grow to compare them to Rampage, which is not the AEW developmental show.

I think people feel the need to compare to something. It's a hangover from the Monday Night Wars, & the more niche wrestling gets, the more they need little victories within it's own genre.

Comparing NXT to Rampage isn't like-for-like, but I don't think it's apples & oranges either. NXT is supposed to be developmental, but if that were true, they wouldn't be looking at things like ratings or demos, or having reports that Vince is disappointed. If it's a TV show on an actual station with ratings targets, it ought to be treated like one.
