I dont feel it's fair on the talent NXT 2.0 is trying to grow to compare them to Rampage, which is not the AEW developmental show. I think people feel the need to compare to something. It's a hangover from the Monday Night Wars, & the more niche wrestling gets, the more they need little victories within it's own genre. Comparing NXT to Rampage isn't like-for-like, but I don't think it's apples & oranges either. NXT is supposed to be developmental, but if that were true, they wouldn't be looking at things like ratings or demos, or having reports that Vince is disappointed. If it's a TV show on an actual station with ratings targets, it ought to be treated like one. See, the way I see it, Dynamite is Raw, Rampage is Smackdown, NXT is Dark - even though Dark is a web show. I'm looking at it from point of purpose rather than anything else. A show. B show. The other show.

If it's a TV show on an actual station with ratings targets, it ought to be treated like one. It’s why they would benefit from being a network exclusive because it really does take away that pressure that you have to have as a TV show and expectations USA has for that time slot. Because, really, it’s not really fair to the talent you’re developing.

Dude’s had over 800 televised matches, might be a bit too late to send him back down to the farm league to be developed further. 800 televised matches against Kofi Kingston!

Hmm...with talk of Ziggler going to NXT, I wonder what's in the cards for Bobby Roode. That earnings call on Thursday and the releases that are likely might be doozies. Probably challenging Moose for the Impact World Title at Slammiversary.

Fun fact, if Ziggler somehow wins the NXT title, he would be the only former NXT pro to win any kind of NXT championship!

I know it's a cliché opinion to have, and I may well be on an island with respect to Ziggler, but he is one person who I think would hugely benefit from a move to AEW.
He's as stagnant as a wrestler has ever been in WWE and, at 41 years old, he is pinned up against a wooden ceiling that will never turn into glass for him again. But, his personality would fit right in on stuff like BTE and Sammy Guevara's vlogs, and he's still one of the best in-ring workers in the business when motivated. There's all kinds of stuff he could do in AEW, and his brother works for the company.
I certainly don't subscribe to the notion that AEW should be chomping at the bit to sign every single ex-WWE guy, and I tend to think that the company has grown a little too rapidly over the last 6-8 months, but Ziggler/Nic Nemeth may actually be the person I would love to see AEW sign most. He's way too damn good to be considered a modern Local Man, and that's all he's ever going to be unless and until he escapes WWE. If he's being sent down to NXT 2.0 to job to Bron Breakker now, anyway, why shouldn't he roll the dice on rejuvenating his career and leaving when his contract comes up? I'd personally love to see it.

I don't know that I'd necessarily expect him to do more, I just think he could do something different. I genuinely think he's the single most stale wrestler ever in the history of WWE, and he's so far gone it doesn't feel like they can do much of anything to rejuvenate him. I think going to a different company would be a real shot in the arm for him. And it would open up a wide array of opponents for him to have great matches with. I figured this would be a very unpopular opinion, but if he's just going to be slumming it in 2.0 now, anyway, I'd like to see him move on. I think he's still got a lot to offer beyond being the 2022 Local Man.

This guy has been around since the late-2000s. Only now they're thinking of putting him on NXT? Seriously?

It's definitely hard to put the bunny back in the magician's hat here, a situation WWE and USA put themselves in.

This guy has been around since the late-2000s. Only now they're thinking of putting him on NXT? Seriously? He was on 2 or 3 seasons of the gameshow NXT and had a few matches in the pre-Takeover era (including Rusev's first competitive match in WWE and it's a banger of a Sprint)

I think he stays down in NXT and works with the Greenhorns, introducing them to the WWE style and making them look good. They need a vet or two down there and Ziggles fits the bill.

I’ve said this before, getting vets down in NXT for a stint or longer is the best idea if you’re not going to keep Cole, O’Reilly, Gargano etc. If you’re not doing much with them on the main roster and want to prepare people for the main roster, get them down there to train the next generation. It’s what they should be doing with people like Gulak, Tozawa and even Ali instead of asking him to do racist storylines. that was even the original idea for NXT too... with people like Cesaro and Tyson Kidd passing through. Hell Tyson completely reinvented himself in a major way down there so he actually had a gimmick that wasn't just "Good wrestler"
