I think at some point we gotta jot down on a list who on the AEW roster has the legit maximum potential of being the world champion/top star of the company, because it feels like you could put 20-30 people on a list like that, and we know in our hearts that not everyone on it would even get close to having a run.

I don’t know, I feel like people are watching a different show entirely if they feel Adam Cole is undervalued. That’s just me, though.

Seeing Adam Cole as undervalued, at least by the standards of the current roster, is just crazy. He's been on Dynamite nearly every week since he debuted, immediately featured alongside the top faction in extended segments with promo time, and went undefeated for months.
Lio Rush and Jay Lethal appeared in the same time frame and haven't made it past "Dante Martin's friend" in prominence. If Keith Lee really debuts and "only" gets an Adam Cole level push, it'll still be a big step up from how AEW's featured every nonwhite talent on their male roster to date.

It would also be a giant step up from how he was presented on WWE's main roster, where yes he did beat Randy Orton, but it amounted to both jack and shit... and that was well before his health scare Also Lethal being a more prominent guy to make others look good is a good role for him right now tbh, and he put Starks over huge so that works. As for Lio... like AEW tried to prominently feature him twice, first time he retired then unretired, second time he dealt with a family loss that derailed his initial run, and then he chose not to renew a second time on a short deal so... it's hard to really peg that on AEW imo.

Talking about being one of the best in the world this week felt silly when he'd struggle to make the aew top 5 and isn't even the best in his own stable. That's before you even get to other promotions. I'd have said it was heel bluster but commentary and others play along. Don't get me wrong he's good and could get to that level but my point is he's been presented as strongly as possible in singles competition. Even inflating his already impressive accomplishments elsewhere (made it sound like NXT and RoH titles are on the same level as WWE or iwgp).

I'd say Cole has been treated for the most part extremely well and pushed heavily.
That said I am kind of realizing that the phenomenon of Adam Cole with me where I recognize he's extremely talented in most every respect on paper except I find myself with virtually no interest in actually watching him in practice was not just an NXT thing.
