I know people shit on it, but I loved this as a kid. Along with SummerSlam 94, it was actually my favorite WWF PPV of that era.
Watching it again recently:
The first two matches are legit good with some really cool spots for the time. My only complaint is the lame ending to Tatanka-Michaels.
The rest of the show has some entertaining storytelling. A couple of dumb refs "making up the rules as they go along" moments, but still fun.
Still probably my favorite WM in terms of overall "look."
Thoughts?

9-12 to me all feel like I'm watching a company in rapid decline, and for me 9 was the first WWF PPV that didn't feel like WWF. No Gorilla Monsoon on commentary. Hogan and Beefer in a tag match. The main event outcome going from "bleh" to downright infuriating.

Some of the worst finishes of any major PPV to that point.

I was super young when I first saw it. I had gotten into wrestling when I was like 7 in 1995, and was probably the world's biggest Yokozuna fan at that point, so I rented the Wrestlemania IX VHS from Blockbuster one weekend.
I certainly enjoyed the show, because it was cool for me to see these guys like Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake who I vaguely knew existed, but had never ACTUALLY seen. The ending really pissed me off though. I enjoyed KOTR 1993's ending way more when I rented that a few months later.

I get the feeling it’s hate comes from us using our smark hindsight we developed over the years. I’d bet the Hogan ending went over well with fans. We were mostly either young children or not even born therefore ignorant to backstage politics. I wouldn’t try it when the fans got more in the know, but at the time, was it really that big a deal?

Kinda. Well for me at least. The moment itself was like "wow, Hogan's back and he won the belt!" Then very quickly it turned to "where is he?" Only thing we ever saw him do was a couple of interviews from the set of Thunder in Paradise so even as a kid, the luster wore off pretty quickly.

Some of the worst finishes of any major PPV to that point. Right, this was definitely crummier than what was usual for the time on that front, and bad endings really do a lot to sully a show. Hell, I am barely counting the Hogan one on that front, since the tag title match was a way shittier Hogan ending. It feels like any time the fans, many of whom were probably not big WWF fans but there for the spectacle, actually would get kind of invested in a match, like Tatanka vs Shawn, or the Hulk and Brutus tag team match, the shitty endings would sour them again. Honestly think that Hogan winning the tag titles and/or Tatanka winning the IC title would have won some good will.

As a Canadian boy who worshipped Bret Hart I hated the results of the show so badly I never ended up renting the VHS. I don’t think I watched Mania IX until I bought the WrestleMania Legacy Collection on VHS in the early 2000’s.
WrestleMania VIII and X however, I will defend to the death. I watched those soooooo many times as a kid and have an insane nostalgic love for both

Yeah I was 12 at the time and I liked it, the live crowd seemed to be into the Hogan win also. It's one of my favorite Mania's mostly for the outdoor setting.

Steiners vs Headshrinkers was the best match of the evening.

The first ten WM's are all classics for me. Even the weaker ones are still enjoyable. WM IX's Roman theme still looks great IMO.

As I always say about WM9, it's definitely not THE worst Wrestlemania, when you consider that WM11 and WM27 exist. (Also WM2/WM4/WM25 aren't exactly winners either.) I give WM9 a little bit of a pass, since they didn't have much of a roster at the time and I think they did pretty good with the matchmaking in that aspect.
But yeah, the majority of the match endings were bad, and overall there wasn't really anything to remember about the event that was exceptionally good, except for the arena setup.

This was the first WrestleMania I saw, and I loved the intro. The big spotlights and the wrestlers appearing on the buildings looked like something from a futuristic racing game. linkLuna Vachon scared the heck out of me as a kid. I had the Coliseum Video version of the show, which included extra footage of her attacking Sherri in the first-aid room. That was a tough scene for me to watch, with Sherri gasping for air. She sold that beating like a champ. To this day, I still don’t understand the outcome of the opening match. Tatanka is declared the winner by count out, but I always thought it should have been a win by disqualification when Shawn Michaels pulled the referee out of the ring. Putting your hands on an official would surely be grounds for a DQ, no? Michaels retains the title either way. I remember one of my school friends claiming that the scheduled match between Bam Bam Bigelow and Kamala did take place, and that he saw it because he watched the show on satellite. I totally forgot about this until I watched old episodes of Raw on WWE Network: In the buildup to the show, it’s mentioned that the Nasty Boys were supposed to get the title shot against Money Inc. but they “stepped aside” and let the Mega Maniacs have it. I guess ‘93 wasn’t the year of the Nastys, as they claimed in the WrestleMania song.

I also liked that WWE uploaded the preshow dark match with El Matador vs. Papa Shango on the network in the Hidden Gems section with JR doing his first match solo before Heenan & Savage make their entrances.

11 is worse, but 9 is pretty bad (IMO). I think what saves it for me from being below 11 is the Roman theme. That made it feel special and like a Mania. Wrestlemania XI is an awful show in an awful arena. The stars being there are the only thing that made it feel different than "Backlash". I know I'm sort of contradicting myself, but still...

I used to love renting this one from the video store as a tiny Doo Doo. I really dug that it was outdoors and, being a little Hulkamaniac, I loved the ending.

It’s a fun show, even with some quite noticeable flaws.
I had the live PPV broadcast on tape as a kid and watched it pretty regularly. It wasn’t until I got on the Internet that I found out there were people who considered it an all-time bad show. That warped my perception of it for a long while, but not anymore.
