We hear so much about Foley, Cornette, and other cheap guys. But what about guys who were loose with their money? I'm looking for stories about wrestler who spent freely on thing so long as they weren't drugs, alcohol (other then high end wines & spirits for a collection) or road expenses. Are their stories of territory wrestlers collecting fine art? I'd love to hear them.

Flair.
Arn basically said if Ric made 20 dollars he'd go out and spend 30 partying that night.
Not to mention all the alimony and child support he had to provide...
I'm pretty sure the Performance Center has/had a money management class ... and I'm sure part of that was.. Ric Flair is one of the highest paid wrestlers of all time... and the dude is broke... don't do what he did.

Batista somehow almost went broke during that period after he stopped wrestling in 2010 and before Guardians of the Galaxy and his 2014 return. I don't know exactly how. He must have earned millions. He was a top star for 5 years. He could've been set for life. Bad investments I guess.
Cena had (or has?) a big car collection. He showed it off in one of his bio-docs years ago. He was also big into sports memorabilia. I remember Meltzer telling a story about him at a sports convention years ago and he was having so much fun going round buying game used bats and helmets like a kid in a candy store, shelling out thousands and even buying stuff for fans.
The Miz and Maryse can't be afraid of spending money. They bought a mansion for over $6m a few years ago and they recently put it up for sale for almost double that.

That would be a big money drain. Also I believe he liked living the high life. So if he kept up the spending when he had little income it goes quick.

I think Neidhart blew through a lot of his cash. That’s when Stu would call Vince up looking for work for him.

As others have said, Flair. Listen to part 1 of his podcast on Austin's show (old podcast).
He talks openly about how he'd order gear like it was going out of style. Or normal clothes because "I didn't want to wear the same thing twice."
His robes by Olivia Walker were like 8 grand a pop.
Multiply that over the years.
Woof.

Flair is close. But I'm looking for money spent on thing that weren't either directly wrestling related or partying related. Things like antiques or classical literature manuscripts.

Okay, so I'm not sure if this qualifies because all stories I've heard, he's been wise with his money, but Lawler. He's got an original batmobile plus I think an original one of The Munsters rat rods. Plus who knows what else comics wise in his collection.

He would fit perfectly because he doesn't drink or do drugs at all. So he spends his money or stuff like that opening a restaurant.

Dark Side of the Ring covered that Dino Bravo really liked living lavishly, buying cars and a big mansion he couldn't afford once the WWF was done with him, which is why he ended up in cigarette smuggling with the mob. Probably a lot of wrestlers from the '80s boom period got themselves in holes like that, but Bravo's spending situation seems especially extreme.

Batista had a divorce, plus I'm pretty sure his wife had cancer. Medical bills stack up very quickly in the US. Brodie Lee apparently lectured Cesaro and Cody Rhodes on finances on a car trip because neither guy was basically planning for their future at all, and he wanted to get them out of stupid spending habits. As for another big spender, I don't know if he still is, but Baron Corbin had a habit of buying very expensive watches to collect.

Gorilla Monsoon supposedly carried $10 to $15,000 in cash on him regularly, and spent a ton on fancy clothes, much of which probably had to be custom-made to fit him. Big gambler, too.

Gorilla Monsoon even joked about it on the 1991 Royal Rumble, sarcastically calling Bravo a "cheapskate."

Andre was known to pick up the tab all the time when he went out for dinner/drinks with his friends. Granted he probably was making more $ than any wrestler on earth at the time (until Hogans popularity skyrocketed) Never heard a story about Andre being cheap. His net worth at the time of his death was $5 million ($10 mil today adjusted for inflation)

I was friend with Nikolai Volkoff and he and Gorilla were good friends back from when Nikolai was first started wrestling and he lived in Jersey. Gorilla set him up with a friend (who Nikolai believed was a mafia guy) to get Nikolai a driver's license even though he couldn't speak English yet.
Gorilla had a huge house, I was told but also at one point Nikolai was over his house and Gorilla had a huge box of clothes outside waiting for trash collection. Gorilla didn't care, he was one of those guys who would just buy new. Nikolai told him he had a brother back home and he could tailor the clothes for him and Gorilla gave them to him.
Another good Gorilla story is from Jimmy Valiant's book where Gorilla and Jay Strongbow were in a car. Gorilla asked Jay for I think a $20 bill for a toll. Gorilla put it in an empty soda can and threw it out the window. Strongbow, as we know was cheap, and was going crazy wanting Gorilla to pull over but Gorilla was happy thinking that a homeless person may find the can and get the money.

True yes. I remember hearing about some massive recliner he had made for his house in North Carolina that was supposedly the only place he could sit without his back killing him Don't even know how he got around Japan with the way things are over there
