The return of the nWo, resulting in the most star-loaded roster that the WWF has ever, ever had.
What are your memories/favorite parts/overall thoughts of this event?

From an in-ring perspective it may be the worst PPV of 2002, a year that had a lot of great PPVs. I remember Austin v Jericho being one of the most boring, never-ending matches ever between two guys that I liked. It felt like there were about 700 chops in that match because they realized fans weren't into it so if they kept doing those they would at least get woooos from the crowd. Edge/Regal was boring too like their whole feud was. Rock/Undertaker was decent, which probably makes it the best singles match they ever had together because they never worked well together. RVD/Goldust was a weird clash of styles. HHH/Angle was probably the MOTN but even that was far from the best match those two had.
I still have nostalgia for the show though due to the NWO return. I was a massive WCW/Nash mark and had been waiting a year for him to arrive, whether solo or with the NWO. Even if the angle fizzled out quickly, younger, less smarky me loved it at the time. The backstage segment with Rock ripping into them was brilliant.

I was looking forward to the show mainly to see the return of the nWo, but that was it.
As Jindrak Mark pointed out Austin/Jericho was just boring as hell, and I was just waiting for the ending with the nWo standing tall at the end.
Nothing else really stood out to me that I can recall.

20 years later I still crack up at Rock’s Diesel sound:

I can't remember why, but having seen every PPV during 2000 and 2001, I never saw No Way Out, Wrestlemania, Backlash or King of the Ring this year. They might not have been available on Sky Box Office, which is generally how I watched PPVs, not having the sports package at the time.
Anyway, I didn't feel like I missed anything by not watching these shows, despite a stacked roster and a lot stuff thrown at the wall.

I'm so glad I wasn't watching at the time. This got so disappointing so fast.

Is this the one where Mr. Perfect does a clearly plastered promo at WWF NY?
