Should they? Probably not, but will they?... Most likely. He's pretty much the last of "Monday Night War Era" left and it feels like a given that he's always going to be booked for the Saudi Arabia. So, there's still value to him in that market, but in terms of domestically... I'd assume even people that are fans of his are okay with never seeing him in the ring again.

I thought he looked solid in there today. And his aura at least to me has not lessened in the slightest. They’ve had him pick up wins here and there still too with the Ziggler and Lashley matches. If Goldberg could have done the Jackhammer, they would have had Roman kick out of that move.
Since being inducted into the HOF, he has had three wins, and one was against a dude who has been 50/50 booked into oblivion. The entire point of Goldberg is that he is a force of nature, a destroyer. And it simply doesn't work if he keeps losing matches at the rate he has since being inducted into the HOF.
Not sure why his position can’t evolve like it has to be someone that can come back, look good and put up a fight in a losing effort against a younger generation. As long as they’re careful with the opponents they choose, I’m still interested in them going that route.

As long as they’re careful with the opponents they choose, I’m still interested in them going that route. It can't because the entire schtick is that Goldberg is a destroyer. The dude became one of the most over dudes in wrestling history off the back of short matches in which he dominated his opponents. Dude was never a workhorse or a character dude - he did one thing and that was dominate.
And when you have a dude like that, it becomes a clear case of diminishing returns. And every loss, his stock drops and it gets harder to build it up as an epic clash and the rub you get from beating him goes down.
And you get to a point where nobody gets over against him, because beating him isn't an achivement, nobody gets excited for his matches because you know he's going to lose, and he can't do it anymore. Dude was awful against Roman, Goldberg was out of breath in short order, Reigns had to run into the spears and he couldn't lift Roman up for the Jackhammer.
It's a route that has no benefit, either for his opponent, or Goldberg himself.

He's not even capable of really doing anything. If you're actually going to do the Big E match and let him beat his idol then I guess do that as the final one but other than that there's nothing interesting he could possibly do at his age/physical condition.
His 2016/17 run was great. He's had his moments since then too (the Ziggler squash at Summerslam, the Lashley falls count anywhere) but so many of these recent matches have been sad to watch. He didn't even hit a Jackhammer tonight or any of his slam type moves. It's like they were scared of him potentially hurting Roman or himself so he just didn't do them. If someone's so far gone to the point that you're having to book his matches with things like that in mind then it's probably a good sign to just call it quits.

I wouldn't even bother bringing him back.
IMO he should only be showing up to give the goobers of the company a Spear. He's terrible at everything else.

Clearly it's about time for Goldberg to finally control his narrative. Shows up, immediately bankrupts everyone. What a fitting end to their pet project.

Can you imagine Goldberg showing up in AEW Thinking about Goldberg as a Rampage regular is killing me. [Excalibur voice] Bill Goldberg is here in AEW, but can he outlast the relentless onslaught of Tony Nese [JR voice] I think he can I am just picturing Goldberg getting a wild hair to go to Khan and saying, "Dude, give me to Hook. People will lose their shit."

Would they not want to do Goldberg Vs Austin if everything went swimmingly with Austin?

I want him as far from wwe as possible. Hang it up and enjoy the rest of life. I haven't enjoyed him since that quick match with Lesnar.

Can't wait until he shows up in August to tell WWE Champion Seth Rollins, "Seth "Freakin'" Rollins? You're freakin' next!"

The Ziggler match was the absolute best way to use Goldberg as a special attraction, but the company insisted on just throwing him in title matches for years.

Give Big E a WrestleMania match and that's it Yeah, this is the only Goldberg match that I really, really want as I know how happy it would make Big E.

The guy meant a lot to teenager me because he was a unambiguous Jewish sports role model in a world where not a whole lot of those exist. But it's time to hang them up. Give him a final match with Big E and he can ride off into the sunset.

It sucks they had such an entertaining thing as the Ziggler match (es) at Summerslam and then never did anything remotely like that with Goldberg again.

Hell no. Get the shoulder surgery you've been putting off, and considering calling it quits before you bastardize your legacy further.
And this is coming from someone who started watching wrestling because of peak-WCW Goldberg.

Does he have a role to play still? For sure.
Have him be the Steve Austin proxy.
Arrive. Spear. Leave.
No matches. No title shots. Just be the dude the shows up to shut someone up and put them on their ass and then go home. That's all you need to do with Goldberg.
Still makes him look like a badass, and protects what mystique he has left (if any).

Goldberg vs Big E should be hyped as Goldberg's retirement match.

Can you imagine Goldberg showing up in AEW Don't you put that evil on us! (Granted, TK has shown he knows how to use legends to spotlight his roster, but still. Goldberg has nothing to offer in 2022.)

Clearly it's about time for Goldberg to finally control his narrative. If I did that in my fantasy booking, would more people read it??
