I finished up the Attitude era on the network and was pretty dope. I’m starting to watch Nitro now. Which period was more enjoyable to you?

I did not enjoy the Attitude era. WCW was a mixed bag, but for me it has aged much better.

97 to 01 is my all time fav time period in wrestling. The Ministry of Darkness was amazing.

WWF wins for me by virtue of Mankind being perhaps my all-time favorite.
That said, both have serious problems. WCW allowed for more excellence in the midcard, but they also delighted in stomping it down from time to time to encourage midcarders to remember their place, often through things like the commentary time blatantly ignoring them to ramble on if Hogan was going to do something or other.
WWF frankly indulged in a lot of pretty repugnant misogyny and casual bigotry for humor. WCW did, too, but Turner had them on a tighter leash, generally.

Both had their ups and downs, but I'll give the slight nod to WWF.
Maybe an unconventional opinion, but the first 6-8 months of the NWO is pretty awful IMO. It was interesting and different, but they are so OP that it makes the shows pretty miserable to watch on a week to week basis. However, WCW from about March 1997-Summer 1998 is about as fun as a wrestling promotion can be.
Also maybe an unconventional opinion - the first half of 1997 is the worst the WWF has ever been. The production was going through a major overhaul with some very visible growing pains and the shows themselves are often very boring. It also isn't helped that nearly everyone is doing a shades of gray character, so there are very view likeable characters to root for. However, July-August 1997 through Summerslam 1998 is an incredible period. It's the Attitude Era before they realized what was happening and making it a brand. 2000 was WWF's best year creatively, but mid 1997- mid 1998 is that style of booking at it's most organic.

96-97 WCW has aged better, but I was so enthralled with WWF during late '97-'01 that I have so many fond memories of watching it with friends in college. Attitude Era gets my vote, even though in hindsight, it probably wasn't as great as it seemed (outside of the very top of the card).

It’s kind of difficult comparing a 1 year period to a 4 year period. I’d take 97-98 and 2000 WWF over 96-97 WCW but I’d take 96-97 WCW over 1999 or 2001 WWF.
