No idea how I missed this in the VHS days, but I just watched this for the first time tonight.
Anyone else ever seen this? The acting performances are so, so good and the script is so nuanced. This might be the highest art, or at least the most intellectually compelling, title in the Full Moon catalog. I was *not* expecting a deadly serious discussion of alcoholism, survivors guide and spousal tension.
If you've seen it, where do you rank it in the Full Moon world and did you know going in what type of movie it was?

It's a great movie, but thanks to the Flophouse podcast, it will always be "the movie where a guy rips off his own ding dong" for me

Castle Freak is a Stuart Gordon joint. Gordon was arguably the most capable director Charles Band/Full Moon ever had. He directed Re-Animator, From Beyond, and Dolls, which if you've seen a lot of Band/Empire/Full Moon stuff, you've probably already watched.
A less obvious Gordon feature worth checking out is 1991's The Pit and the Pendulum based on Edgar Allan Poe's story. It may not be the best adaptation of the story, but its one of best things in Full Moon's catalogue and features prime Lance Henriksen as Torquemada.
